I warned you @"adatole" that you were headed down a deep rabbit hole. I personally can't bring myself to admit how much time and money I've invested into home automation. Like you though, this pandemic has caused me to spend much more time than usual automating little things that annoy me, that I would otherwise forget, or…

Are you interested in XenApp server patches or the XenApp Citrix Receiver?

The Agent included in SAM 6.2 fully supports overlapping IP address space, so duplicate IP addresses should be no problem. You cannot mix/match agent/agentless with overlapping IP address space using the same poller, but so long as both hosts have some route back to the Orion server and both endpoints are managed via the…

Most customers today handle this through custom properties by adding a Warranty expiration field and reporting upon it. I'm not aware of any method to get this information from the device pragmatically but I'd love to hear any ideas you might have to make this process easier.

The Shared Secret is used only once for pairing to an Orion server when the agent is in provisioning mode. Once the agent has been tied to an Orion instance certificate authentication is used. You can force an Agent to reprovision itself via local policy, registry, or through Group Policy, as well as define a new shared…

greenpaddyirishman wrote: Good to know - so the database can be upgraded/migrated first and all the modules will continue to run until they are ready to be upgraded using your step by step guide correct? Correct. The database migration can occur before or after following the steps outlined here in this post. The choice is…

What items in particular are you wanting to disable?

Looks like this may be an issue with the settings for your user account that is outlined in the following KB article. * SolarWinds Knowledge Base :: AppInsight for SQL: 401 Error
-
Yes, this extends to NPM 12.1 also.
-
Can you elaborate? AppInsight for SQL does not require a DBA or DB guru to reap the benefits it provides. In fact, the Expert Knowledge included in AppInsight for SQL provides actionable information to remediate many common issues users encounter with MSSQL that non-DBAs are sure to appreciate.

SAM 6.2 (currently in beta) allows you to monitor processes and services when they are running, and have them go into a neutral "Not Running" state when they're not. This prevents alerts from triggering and red appearing on your dashboards for processes and services that run only as-needed, while still allowing you to…
-
This can be done today by adding the following filter to the resource. Volumes.Caption<>'cached memory' and Volumes.VolumeType='Fixed Disk'
-
This is already possible today, albit it in reverse. Once AppInsight for SQL is applied, simply unmanage the Databases you don't wish to monitor. This will remove any status and prevent them from alerting.

Is this not what you are looking for here?

If you're going to mute all nodes during a maintenance activity, it would probably be better to instead simply 'Pause actions for all alerts' instead. This will maintain your existing muted notes while still preventing alert storms during maintenance windows.

You need to set the proxy server for the whole Orion server, not the user level. Once completed it will be used by Warranty Polling automatically. You can do this through Group Policy. See Make proxy settings per-machine (rather than per user) GPO description.
-
The agent can be deployed manually, through group policy, or virtually any other 3rd party deployment tool that supports MSI/MST package distribution. The agent can be deployed such that once it registers with the Orion server or additional poller it can automatically become a managed node in Orion. You will however still…

SAML would be a feature of the Orion Platform itself, so all Orion modules will benefit.

This is the information reported to Orion by Solaris via SNMP. Orion isn't doing any special calculation of these values. If you follow the steps outlined in the KB article below, you should be able to verify this yourself. Validate memory utilization on IBM AIX and Solaris machines - SolarWinds Worldwide, LLC. Help and…

Definitely too soon to say as it was logged only as of today.

jhawk75 wrote: Great post. We're running an older version and I was wondering if it's possible for us to run with this procedure. Orion Platform 2016.1.5300, NPM 12.0, IVIM 2.1.2, NetPath 1.0, QoE 2.1.0, SAM 6.2.0, NTA 4.1.2 12.0.1 is the minimum version required to use this method, so you will need to upgrade one last…

This should not be the case, even for NAM. We're still unclear what exactly the issue was or what exactly resolved it. We're just glad that rschroeder is back up and running again.

Sharing credentials between modules could be done, but historically it was a conscious decision to segment these, presumably to ensure environments which have hundreds or even thousands of unique credentials from being able to better understand which credentials are being used where and for what.

SAM 6.2 (currently in beta) includes trending and forecasting on volumes so you can be alerted that you're going to run out of space on a volume in "X" days.
-
All very fair points alexslv. To your example above, an additional feature added in this release would likely help with this situation, as well as improve the maintainability of the Orion system. Automatically removing volumes (or interfaces) which have been in an 'unknown' state for longer than a user definable time…
-
Actually, these are both possible today.

As with the WIndows Agent, the Linux agent would also be optional. There are certain scenarios where an agent is advantageous such as environments where overlapping IP address space is a problem. The intent would not to require an agent, but simply provide it as an option for those situations where agentless monitoring is…
