This comes from doing a reverse lookup of the IP address against the DNS server.

This information can be gathered using a WMI Monitor in SAM using the Root\CIMv2 Namespace SoftwareLicensingProduct class. Once collected you can then report upon this information using the Report Writer and compare that to the number of licenses you own. LicenseStatus Data type: uint32Access type: Read-only Specifies the…

The APM team plans to release a DAG template for Exchange in the not so distant future. In the meantime it may be helpful if you post the PowerShell script as a TXT attachment here so potential PowerShell experts can offer their feedback.

That is not an error that can be returned by clicking the "Configure Server" button. Can you provide the exact error message you receive when clicking the "Configure Server" button from within "Edit Application Monitor"

The Group of Groups limitation was designed to effect only group summary views. It appears as though you're attempting to use groups like custom properties. Groups are for dependency mapping and root-cause analysis. I recommend instead of using groups you look at custom properties, which are far more powerful and were…

Negative. Out-of-the-box templates will not be overwritten during upgrades. Any alterations or modifications made will be preserved.

You can certainly put all your clients on a map. You can create 20 device groups that contain all the devices for each particular client. The map will change the color from green to yellow when one or more devices are down in that sub-map/group. The map will not tell you how many devices are down. For that you can create…

Which components are showing a status of "Not Found"? A screenshot might help. Also, how did AppInsight for SQL get applied to the node? Was it assigned manually, was it selected through "List Resources", or Network Sonar Discovery?
-
This has been requested before but I'd still recommend either starting a new thread in the NPM Feature Requests forum or adding your thoughts to this existing thread in the same forum voicing your support for this feature.
-
Before getting too far I suggest start by getting the "SQL Server 2005-2008 Performance (SQL)" template applied to your SQL server to ensure that you don't have any credential or connectivity issues.
-
How would you imagine that working? Are you thinking Syslog/Traps?

A reserved instance on Amazon EC2 starts at around $100.00 a year. More information on pricing can be found on Amazon's website at the link below. * http://aws.amazon.com/ec2/pricing/

The error message you are receiving is that the Thwack credentials provided to download the template were invalid. Please ensure you are using your Thwack credentials and not your Orion credentials to download the template. As you can see below I was able to successfully download this template.
-
If this is indeed an urgent issue, I recommend contacting support by either opening a ticket online or calling SolarWinds support.

The functionality provided by the "Exchange 2010-2013 Database Availability Group" Template is now natively included as part of AppInsight for Exchange, which is available in the SAM 6.1 release, currently in beta.
-
Based on the information you've provided the problem is likely that you're running Orion APM on a 64bit version of Windows with 64bit PowerShell extensions installed. APM 4.x uses a 32bit job engine, and as such executes 32bit PowerShell sessions, but there are no 32bit Exchange PowerShell extensions installed. My…

Yes these files can be safely deleted, though I recommend stopping the Player Service first, deleting the files, before starting the service back up.

Which version of SAM are you using with template with? This template was tested with SAM 6.0 and 6.0.1 without issue. If you are using an earlier version of SAM I recommend deleting the imported template, upgrading to SAM 6.0.1, then downloading the template directly through the in-product Thwack integration under…

It's likely that you have auditing enabled on that server for successful logon events. If these events are excessive and unwanted I would recommend changing the audit policy on your monitored servers to only log failed login events.
-
Most/all the properties you are looking for appear to be available in the Alert Manager.
-
All of the information you are looking to alert upon is available natively as part of the Node itself. There is not need to assign any application templates to these nodes to collect this information. The only thing you really need to do is define the Trigger Conditions you listed above in the Advanced Alert Manager and…

Instead of associating SQL queries with different hosts, wouldn't you rather a more comprehensive SNMP component monitor in SAM that supported similar functionally that the UnDP currently provides?
-
I'm not aware of any application templates for SCADA but if the device supports SNMP then you should be able to create your own Application template to monitor the critical application processes for this service. I'd suggest starting with the "Find Processes, Services, and Performance Counters Wizard under "Settings -> APM…

Of course! There are several different methods for accessing historical data within Orion. Virtually any chart you'll find in Orion has quick access zoom range selectors you can click on to quickly view the last 1, 12, or 24 hours. Clicking on a Component itself takes you to the "Component Details" view where you have…

I ran into this and found it was my NTFS permissions on the c:\inetpub\solarwinds directory. I know it's not an answer but hopefully this gets you pointed in the right direction.
-
This would be a function of SAM's DNS User Experience Monitor.
-
5671 (TCP) is used for SSL encrypted RabbitMQ messaging between the primary & secondary Orion servers, as well as any additional polling engines.
-
Yes, SAM's HTTP or HTTPS Monitors can both perform simple string matching on XML content.
-
Have you considered using SAM's Service Control Manager to select the service(s) you want to monitor on this application?
