Out of curiosity what operating systems are you seeing effected? We have not received reports through support of high CPU usage on SAM/NPM monitored hosts managed via WMI, though a little digging did turn up the following Microsoft KB article that may be related to the issue you're experiencing. High CPU usage or a lengthy…

There is not at this time. SQL agent job results are reflected in the SQL agent job status based upon the success or failure of the jobs configured to run on that SQL server.

Brandon, there have been some minor improvements to the way counterfetcher works in SAM 5.2. I recommend upgrading once it's released. In the meantime, you may want to consider opening a case with support so we can get a more detailed look at your diagnostics.

We have not yet released templates for Exchange 2013 as they are still undergoing QA testing. As you can imagine our QA swamped ensuring SAM 6.0 is a high quality release. These templates should be posted in the Content Exchange soon. I have however attached our latest unvalidated/unsupported template pack for Exchange…

Thresholds are based on best practices, but that doesn't always mean that one size fits all. To adjust your Page/Sec thresholds based specifically on your environment I recommend following the steps outlined in the following KB article. SolarWinds Knowledge Base :: Using the Orion APM MIN/MAX Average Statistic Data…

This is a fairly complex alert, so it's really difficult to even speculate where the issue is. My recommendation would be to simplify the alert significantly using the out-of-the-box "Alert me when the free space of a volume is less than 5%" alert. Modify this alert to trigger when any volume is using more than 1%…

There is a known bug in VMware's API where status is not properly reset after a failure. You're certainly welcome to open a case with support and we will walk you through the VMware API so you can see this for yourself. From there you will have all the information needed to open a case with VMware support. I believe this…

Could you clarify exactly what it is that you downloaded and from where? A URL/link would be very helpful.

Is there limitations with the 30 day free trial stuff then the licensed copies ? Evaluations are fully functional unlimited 30 day trials of the product. There are no limitations beyond the 30 day evaluation period. I have added in some vmare stuff into the new installs and I am not getting the same results as my old…

Are you by any chance out of maintenance? If not, I recommend opening a case with customer service at the link below. They can track down the reason why your customer portal is not provisioned. Customer Service Ticket Submission Form | SolarWinds

It looks like you may have a memory leak or a runaway process running on that server. It may be normal, like backups or antivirus, but paging occurs when there is insufficient physical memory in the server to satisfy demand. These pages are then written to virtual memory on disk as temporary storage. The more paging that…

The problem you're most likely running into is permissions/security. The reason why it works when run from your workstation or the SAM server itself is the script is using the permissions model of the user account you're logged in as. When the same script is run as a script monitor in SAM the script is run under the local…

You could create individual alerts based on specific services, but a better more efficient and easier to maintain method would probably be to leverage Custom Properties.

Monitoring of Network Load Balancers is a function of Network Performance Monitor. Native out-of-the-box monitoring of F5 devices was included as part of the NPM 10.4 release.

It sounds like you may have applied the DNS User Experience Monitor to a node that is not a DNS server, or that a firewall or router access control lists are blocking DNS traffic to that host from the Orion server. I would suggest doing the following. Open a command prompt on the Orion server and type "nslookup". Change…

Windows Scheduled Task Monitor does not function like traditional application templates. When enabled on a node through List Resources, or manual assignment these Scheduled Tasks appear as a new web resource on the Node Details view for that node. There is no separate/dedicated view solely for WIndows Scheduled Tasks.

Thank you for your feedback. We're tracking this internally as FB28909.

The easiest way to accomplish this would be using groups in Orion. Add the applications, components, nodes, etc. that you want to report combined availability on and you're done. You can also try using the Data Aggregation option within the report writer as shown below.

There are methods for installing the IBM Director Agent on CentOS. Without the Director Agent installed the operating system is unaware of the health of the underlying hardware upon which it's running. * The point of no return » Blog Archive » How to install IBM Director Common Linux Agent 6.3.5 on CentOS6 * dW:Eserver:IBM…

I'm also running my database from a SAN. The SQL Server is dedicated and my DB is about 50-60GB. I really have no performance problems to speak of. I run my demo/eval/test Orion in a VM with a problem but I wouldn't recommend running a production Orion server inside a VM. As my demo server approaches 100 or more nodes I…

Yes. Any macro that can be used for email notifications can also be passed as variables to a script or external process as the result of the trigger action in the Advanced Alert Manager.

You'll first need to create a new set of credentials by going to [Settings -> Windows Credentials] Once you've created a new set of credentials head over to Manage Nodes [Settings -> Manage Nodes] and group the nodes by polling method. Select "WMI" from the "Group by" options and then choose two or more (or all of them)…

Host name and username information appears for user initiated queries. Stored procedures, which have no such username or host associated with them, will not show information in those columns.

This is a very frequent request in the forums. There is good news however. Last month SolarWinds purchased ipMonitor which will be integrating it into Orion over the course of the next 12 months. In the meantime you can purchase ipMonitor and presumably be entitled to the official SolarWinds Orion integrated version when…

The Nagios Script Monitor in SAM was specifically designed with Linux/Unix in mind. That doesn't however mean that your script won't work. In theory you can use any Linux host to execute the script against, essentially acting as a proxy for the monitor. Another alternative is with some very minor changes to the output…

SAM does not currently have the concept of "mixed" status. This is a feature request we're tracking internally under FB89009.

Why does the Custom Object Resource not suit your needs?

I was able to reproduce the issue running SAM 6.2.2 with Orion Core Hotfix 5. As such I've logged this as a bug internally under case SAM-2693. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
