How do you plan to license the printer monitoring (e. g. Black cartridge status on one printer = 1 APM Monitor Licence)? It's not finalized as of yet, but our plan is actually make it easier than that. The printer itself would consume a node license and nothing else. The monitoring of the consumables, printer status, etc…

Can you run this same SNMP MIB walk against the same host from a remote machine?

The Agent doesn't require credentials for basic server monitoring except if you are pushing the Agent out from the Orion server through the web interface. Can you edit the node itself through [Settings -> Manage Nodes] and verify the server is managed via the agent?
-
You can do this using the Multiple Object Chart resource as shown below.

Looking at your customer portal I can see you have a SAM ALX license. You'll have to click on "License Management" on the left side navigation to see it listed.

I believe what bluefunelemental is saying is that you can monitor each cluster member individually, or monitor the cluster as a whole via the VIP. Each approach has it's advantages, which is why I recommend a combined approach. I suggest monitoring local resources (items that don't move between cluster nodes) on each…

SAM does not support monitoring of web based java applications. To monitor a Java applet like this you would need to use our Web Performance Monitor.

The self-signed certificate is used only for PowerShell WinRM sessions. It is not used for other aspects of Exchange. You can view your WinRM listener configuration by running "winrm e winrm/config/Listener" at a PowerShell command prompt. It should look similar to the following.

Ok, stupid question... what is OAG?

The command line field does not appear by default in the Real-Time Process Explorer. It can be added by clicking on the edge of any column header and enabling the "Command Line" field.

How much do you wanna bet they ask for a Solarwinds Diagnostic? ;) Case # 79070

If the credentials are assigned to the node (WMI Managed Node) you can simply go to the Node Details for that node, click "Edit Node" and update the credential. If you're simply trying to update an existing credential assigned to a node (maybe the password has changed) you can do so under [Settings -> Manage Windows…

mlandman wrote: Does this limitation apply to auto-updates only or does it also limit the number of parallel updates from the Manage Agents screen? It applies to both Also, is this system wide or is it on a per poller basis? I have seen that the update is pushed from the agent's poller. It's specific to each polling engine.

This was addressed quite a while ago. Please see the following thread. Using Windows Event Log Monitor on Deep Logs

SAM does not include an out of the box application template for monitoring SQL Server 2000 as it's no longer supported by Microsoft. You can however create your own application template using the Component Monitor Wizard under [Settings - SAM Settings] or manually by crafting the queries yourself and using the SQL User…

What you're experiencing is likely related to one or both of the issues outlined in the KB articles below. * SolarWinds Knowledge Base :: SAM is not Showing the Proper Status of the Services * SolarWinds Knowledge Base :: Add Node Application Struck with Error during Polling :"Initial Poll in Progress"

slaj is correct. This functionality was added as part of the SAM 6.0 release.

This issue should be resolved after applying hotfix 1. http://downloads.solarwinds.com/solarwinds/Release/HotFix/WPM-v2.2.0-Hotfix1.zip

Since each transaction is broken out by its individual steps you can see if there's a performance issue logging in vs running the report from a single transaction. Each step of the transaction has it's own warning and critical threshold which makes identifying where in the process the slowdown is occurring. If it was me,…

Yes, though there may be some other items you need to consider related to NCM depending upon what version you're running. * SolarWinds Knowledge Base :: Migrating NCM 7.2 to a New Server Environment

CPU & Memory Gauges are unrelated to new/old charts. These resources now link directly to PerfStack rather than the legacy Custom Chart view. This is true regardless of whether or not you've migrated to new charts or remain on old charts, as the radial gauges themselves are not charts. This is also true of many of the…

Is there any way to restrict that withou allowing them to modify the APM templates? Not currently, but this is something we're investigating for the next release.

Case # 81236 This is probably nothing, but it struck me funny since APM 2.5 has been running like a top since I installed it. Best version of APM yet.

NPM manages and monitors the UCS chassis itself. Unlike traditional blade systems, Cisco does not have an equivalent to Dell OpenManage Server Administrator, HP System Insight Manager Agent, or IBM's Director Common Agent software which can be installed on the blade's host operating system to provide blade specific…

I would suggest changing your polling to direct, which uses the CIM protocol. The vCenter can and does often lag behind.

Despite the name, the "Citrix XenApp 5.0 ICA Session WMI counters" template uses Windows Performance Counters via RPC to collect this information. You can verify that these counters are working remotely using the Perfmon.exe utility included with Windows on your Orion server. Using Perfmon.exe on the server where SAM is…

The following thread lays out many of the details for APC UPSs, which are equally applicable to Liebert UPSs. The only difference is the Universal Device Poller used. https://thwack.solarwinds.com/docs/DOC-12909

It sounds like only the nodes are part of the group, not the applications. Applications only affect child status of a node, but not the node status itself. Since groups don't have a "child" status this isn't bubbled up to the group. For this reason the applications must also be part of the group for them to impact the…

Yes, this is simply a permission you assign to the AD user/group through the Orion web interface.
