For each individual node can either inherit from the Global Thresholds for CPU/Memory OR they can use specific thresholds defined at the node level, but not both. Node Thresholds: [Node Details -> Edit Node] Global Thresholds: [Settings -> Orion Thresholds]

Hotfixes are generic. They are applied to all Orion servers the same way. Start with your primary, main Orion server, then the HA backup. Finally, then install it on any other scalability engines in the environment (Additional Polling Engines / Additional Web Servers).

From the case notes it looks like you're working with Kate and Destiny who happen to be two of our best support engineers. With their assistance I'm sure we'll get to the bottom of your issue quickly.

The script would be written as a Script Monitor in SAM and executed against the server where the email is sent to by your application. That could be Office365, a local Exchange Server, etc. How the script works would be entirely up to you to decide. It could trigger only when there are X number of emails found within a…

You could use the SQL User Experience Monitor to write your own SQL query that would return the number of matching records in the SQL error log.

Have you applied SP1 for APM 4.2?

I will defer to stevenwhunt as I have taken on new responsibilities and am no longer the PM for SAM.

Please delete this template from SAM and download the latest version from Thwack Content Exchange. It's possible you are using an earlier version of this template. Also, I recommend copying the script from the template and running it outside of SAM to troubleshoot any issues you are having with the template. The arguments…

Sorry, That was a bad copy/paste job. There need to be spaced between the command line parameters.I corrected this above.

Please open a case with support. While I believe this may be a known issue I'd like support to verify.

In that case, step one is to monitor the particular metrics you are wanting to monitor using the Component Monitor Wizard. Once those are monitored and thresholds defined, the default out-of-the-box "Alert me when a component goes into warning or critical state" should handle the notifications.

That would be ding

Customize the view Click on the [+] icon for the column you want to add the resource to. Search for "Custom Table", select it from the list and click the "Add Selected Resources" button.

So you have a group called "Payment Card Service" that is a member of two other groups "External Quote/Sell" and "Internal Quote/Sell", but the "Payment Card Service" group shows a different status depending on which group you are looking at "External Quote/Sell" or "Internal Quote/Sell". Did I summarize that correctly? If…

No progress to report as yet. We have a number of other application templates we're currently working on at this time. All new templates are posted to the Content Exchange. You can subscribe to the Server & Application Monitor Content Exchange itself and be notified when any new templates are added. Alternatively, you can…

Is the Orion server required to go through a proxy server to access the internet?

Have you tried using an 'OR" block in your alert condition to limit the number alerts you would need to create? E.G. Alert me when 'FileCount' is greater than 'X' or 'SymbolicLinkCount' is equal to 'Y'?

It would appear based on the error that the account that you are using may be a member of a great many groups or some kind of nested group membership loop exists for this user. Regardless, it would appear to be a bug in the "Configure Server" button when it's attempting to validate permissions. You can try creating a…

I would concur with jezmarsh that an OPC to SNMP gateway would be required. There are several optional available in addition to the one posted above. Below are just another example. * SNMP-OPC Gateway

This reads that the owner of the file has both read and write access, group has read, and others have read as well. So yes, the it would appear the file is read-only for all users.

Out of curiosity, are these monitors simply process/service monitors? If so, this is a open feature request that you can vote on at the below. * MONITOR PROCESSES REGARDLESS OF STATUS

The alert macro does indeed work. However, the "Property to Monitor" must be defined as "APM:Component" in the Alerts Trigger Condition. It will not work for the property "APM:Application". How is your alert configured?

Each ESX/i host managed in Orion (regardless if VMware polling is occurring direct or through a vCenter) must be configured to use SNMP if you want to see volume usage metrics. Orion does not currently collect volume usage information using the VMware API. It's very likely that your ESXi hosts are managed as ICMP nodes,…

All excellent points. Template level custom properties would certainly be handy in this case. Also, yes. My suggestion above was based primarily on these properties not working with Dynamic groups.

Would views unique to specific component monitor types, similar to how "Views by Device Type" work for nodes help in your situation?

You don't need four physical interfaces, and you certainly don't need four routers. You can do this with an appropriately sized router that has one physical interface. This is known as "a router on a stick". As I stated previously, you'll need to relinquish the routing responsibilities from your 3560 and designate that…

It sounds like a great use case for SEUM, out new Synthetic End User Monitor.

nickcat, I appreciate the feedback. We are tracking this bug internally under CORE-12365

I would concur that this could be considered a bug, as the query against the database for the trigger/reset conditions should only be run during the hours specified in the "Time of Day" tab. The Advanced Alert Manager however is undergoing an extensive overhaul currently, so this may no longer be an issue when the new…
