Monitoring processes without monitoring state (up/down) is not something that can be done natively within the product today. I know some customers have written scripts monitors in SAM to do this. I've logged this as a feature request which we're tracking internally as FB116284.

If you've defined a threshold then the default out-of-the-box Alert "Alert me when a component goes into warning or critical state" should be triggered.
