In that case can I suggest that you modify your feature request? Instead of asking for super high precision polling ask that the graphs be displayed as area charts instead of vertical bar charts. This makes more sense anyways and should allow your graphs to flow freely without gaps. This seems to be the direction they are…

Even using the windows auth? It works from my iPOD Touch. Do you have basic auth configured in IIS in addition to Windows Integrated Authentication? If you can login sucsesfully to Orion with Firefox you should be able to do so with the iPhone.

I like your slow roll strategy. With that said I would recommend manually assigning templates individually to nodes on an as-needed basis or once you are comfortable with the previous changes that were made. This may be an assign a template a day approach, or simply go at your own pace. Whatever works for you and your…

Severity is factored into case routing, but I can't provide any specific details around SLAs since I'm not part of the support group. "Urgent" should be reserved for systems down hard (all polling stopped) scenarios. Which seems like the case may be here.

Application Logs are stored under 'C:\ProgramData\Solarwinds\Logs\APM\ApplicationLogs\AppIdxx' where "xx" is the AppID is the number shown in the browser URL when viewing the application details, as shown below.

Does the "Browse For Component Monitors work " for these hosts when selecting WMI, Windows Performance Counters, Services or Processes? In other words, do these return results or do you receive an error?
-
Yes. Given the number of individual sensors you are monitoring and the historical values needed to calculate availability for the time range selected we are easily talking about millions of rows of data. I recommend you try reducing the time range or the number of sensors you are trying to report upon for any single report.

The Advanced Alert Manager does not list all possible values, rather it lists all current values of applications/nodes/components/etc. based on what property type was selected. The fact that "Down" was not listed as an option simply means that none of the property types selected were currently in a "Down" state at that…

The CIM Ports must also be accessible from the Orion server to the ESX/ESXi host. VMware's CIM ports are TCP 5988 and 5989.
-
Yes. When you are on the 'Node Details' view of the ESX/ESXI host, click "Edit Node" in the 'Management' resource. Check the box that says "Poll for VMware" and provide the same 'root' credentials you would use to SSH into the ESX/ESXi host into the fields below and click 'Submit'. Once complete you should be polling…

You can take the Hyper-V appliance and move it to Azure, but there is not at this time a package you can install on a Linux box of your own choosing.

Even the script you reference does not allow for the exclusion of the particular databases. This is because a DAG is a specific to a given group of servers, not individual databases. If you believe you can craft your own PowerShell script that will exclude a specific database, I would recommend disabling this component in…

The alert as you have it written is correct albeit very broad. This will alert you when any application has a response time equal or greater than 100 for the "Local" department". If you only have one application you're monitoring in the "local" department this is fine, but if you have multiple this may over alert you. If…

Once monitored, you can simply configure the thresholds appropriately for those counters, then the default out-of-the-box "Alert me when a component goes into warning or critical state" should trigger when the threshold has been exceeded. Alternatively you can create your own alert in the Alert Manager based on thresholds…

we will be adding that and more in the next version. Terrific! I was just about to ask the same question.

When applying applications to nodes in a different domain than the Orion APM server, ensure you specify a valid administrative account in the domain of the server that's being monitored, with the domain name prepended to the username in the credentials specified for the application. I.G. "mydomain\myusername".

This template should be applied only to a node that represents the cluster VIP. This may explain why you are receiving the errors that you are. If you haven't already, add a new node to Orion using the IP address of the cluster VIP. It shouldn't matter if it's an WMI, SNMP, or ICMP managed node, just be sure only to…

I believe the following template is what you are looking for. * Monitor State of SQL Server Agent Jobs
-
No. Installing Outlook 2003 on the Orion server will not change how how the reports are sent or how the reports appear. Different email clients handle image attachments differently so you may find that the attachment handling in Thunderbird differs from that of Outlook, or Eudora.

There is a known issue with disabled ESX Hardware sensors becoming automatically re-enabled after the next poll. We are tracking this issue internally under SAM-2414 and it should be resolved in the next release of SAM.
-
yervillageidiot, the Warning and Critical thresholds defined in your screenshot above are for the job duration, not success or failure. This allows you to be notified of runaway jobs, jobs that are hug, etc.

Does the same Agent work when running in Passive 'Server initiated' mode?
-
Does the node where the Agent was deployed appear in Orion? Is it listed under 'Manage Agents'?
-
The link you provided goes to a Universal Device Poller (UnDP), which is a feature of Network Performance Monitor (NPM), not Server & Application Monitor (SAM). If you need assistance with this UnDP I recommend direct messaging , or posting your question to the forum here on Thwack. Alternatively, if you're trying to…

This template was deprecated with the introduction of AppInsight for Exchange which is available in SAM 6.1 and later.

That's probably the simplest/easiest way to create these alerts but if you find you have dozens or more this simply doesn't scale from a management perspective. Leveraging Custom Properties allows you to have a single configured alert route the message to the appropriate person dynamically depending on the node, simply by…

SQL Always on is absolutely supported! In fact, it's the only SQL redundancy solution supported by High Availability in a multi-subnet configuration.

This will be fixed in the forthcoming SAM 5.0 release.
