familyofcrowes wrote: Is it true that the data between the poller and SQL is NOT encrypted? That is correct, unless you've enabled TLS on your SQL server. SQL Encryption is a function of the MSSQL server, not Orion.

Groups don't currently have the concept of a child status, which is what's depicted on your nodes in the screenshot above. So down interfaces, applications, etc. will not bubble up to the group status Icon unless those items are explicitly added to the group. I'll be logging a feature enhancement request for this now.

Have you re-downloaded the absolute latest version of the Scalability Engines Installer from the Orion web interface after the hotfix was applied to the Main Orion server? This version should be able to apply hotfixes properly to all your scalability engines.

Including a multi-value script message into the text of an alert message can only be accomplished using a SQL macro. Below is an example of the SQL macro usage to add the numeric value of a multi-value script to the output of an advanced alert message. * SolarWinds Knowledge Base :: Ability to pull individual numeric…

Have you upgraded to 5.2? This issue was identified and fixed under FB113137 in the SAM 5.2 release.
-
If you need help creating the script you might want to consider posting to the for assistance.
-
Yes. You should follow the exact same procedure for SAM that you did for NPM.

Orion performance is primarily driven off the database server. A CPU constrained poller is the most likely bottleneck you'll encounter with your Orion server, be it virtual or physical. It's recommended that you have at least one CPU core per-product installed. Disk I/O is normally not the constraint on the Orion server,…

I would recommend upgrading to IPAM 4.3, NTA 4.1, NPM 11.5, and SAM 6.2. Between those releases there are literally hundreds of bugs fixed.

Sounds like you're trying to recreate this report -> Component_Monitor_Threshold_Value_Report_(with_nulls).OrionReport
-
Hmm.. You want the of ticket creation to be a manual process initiated by a user action (clicking a button) in the Orion web interface?
-
The best thing for such a scenario would likely be the Exchange Web Services User Experience Monitor, or IMAP4/POP3 User Experience Monitors.
-
Correct. We don't package reports for each application we monitor, but the Report Writer allows you all the flexibility you need to create a custom report based on your own requirements. I would recommend starting with my report example below and expanding upon that. If you need assistance creating reports in the Report…

Sounds like a good candidate for a Server & Application Monitor Feature Requests
-
I didn't think so, but it was worth a try. You may be able to get creative using vbscript with Windows Media Player. In the meantime I've logged this as a feature request under FB167748.

Is it at all possible to disable the UTM (Unified Threat Management) IDS/IPS features of the firewall to see if that is indeed the problem? I know I've seen similar issues with Check Point's SmartDefense.
-
AppInsight for IIS, which is part of the SAM 6.2 beta, includes native Application Pool monitoring.
-
What is your case number? I'll try and track it down and see if I can get someone who can assist you.
-
If you've defined a threshold then the default out-of-the-box Alert "Alert me when a component goes into warning or critical state" should be triggered if enabled.
-
You might want to post the the Orion SDK forum for assistance with writing a PowerShell script to pragmatically unmanage nodes. The Unmanage Scheduling Utility is SolarWinds recommended, and officially supported method of unmanaging nodes/interfaces/applications on a regularly scheduled basis.

Beyond the manual process of exporting the template from Dev and importing it again to Prod there is really no other option for updating the template between instances.
-
If you've opened a case with support please post you case number here so I can check its progress and resolution. Another option that you may find to be more consistently reliable is the SNMP Process monitor. In the case of the Netlogon service, simply configure the process name in this monitor for "lsass.exe".

Are these Agents by chance located across high latency, low bandwidth links? I've also seen similar behavior when Agent traffic is in the low priority queue, so it may be worth checking any CBQoS or bandwind shaping policies which might be slowing the agent upgrade process.

You would use the Custom Object Resource to add the Multiple Statistic Chart to other views as shown below.

All TCP ports referenced in that KB article are destination ports as the source port is almost always a random high port greater than 1024. E.G. the ephemeral port range. As this is controlled by and varies by operating system, it's not something that is easily documented.

Volume Size, space free, and other information is available directly from the NetApp device itself via SNMP. If you also have NPM, below are a few Universal Device Pollers you might find useful. * NetApp Volume Usage-Detailed * NetApp Disk Health * NetApp Health Stats * Netapp Filer universal poller * NetApp Volume Percent…

What bitness is the driver that you installed on the Orion server? If you installed a 64bit windows ODBC driver you will need to expand the advanced options of the application and select 64bit polling. The default is 32bit. Another option is to install the 32bit MySQL ODBC driver on the Orion server.

This error is typically returned by the host being monitored and is not the Orion server itself which has run out of memory. By default, the memory quota limit for instances of wmiprvse.exe on Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 is 128 MB, and 512 MB on newer Operating Systems (Vista and higher). You may have encountered a…

You may want to consider looking at our Log & Event Manager which has been purpose built to handle a steady stream of syslog and traps. Even moving this data off onto Kiwi Syslog should help improve performance. Other alternatives would be to limit/reduce your data retention periods for syslog and trap data or follow the…

Without knowing much of anything about this application, have you tried looking at what Windows Performance Counters exist for this application using the "Component Monitor Wizard" located under [Settings -> SAM Settings]?
