  • If you choose the APM option using WMI, this below thread will put you on the road: If you go for the SNMP way, the below links will explain you how to create Universal Device Pollers: Admin Guide http://www.solarwinds.com/NetPerfMon/SolarWinds/wwhelp/wwhimpl/js/html/wwhelp.htm#href=OrionAGMonitoringCustomMIBs.htm Video…
  • I usually use WMI Explorer to ensure credentials are working. If you are not sure about the credentials, the doc team created a pdf that will guide through some troubleshooting steps: http://www.solarwinds.com/support/apm/docs/APMWMITroubleshooting.pdf Which error(s) do you get within APM itself for the SQL Components of…
  • Hi all, There is a defect logged for this issue where Variables do not work anymore in Network Atlas. Please open a support ticket in order to receive an email as soon as a fix is release for this bug. Thanks, Yann For internal folks: #12447
  • Um, how does one monitor UDP ports? The best I can guess is to create a windows script monitor that does a netstat looking for those ports. Any other suggestions? APM has a default template named: DHCP/Bootp Server It contains two udp port components. it might be misleading as the component type is called "DNS Monitor -…

  •  A add-on MIB for Net-SNMP can be installed to monitor information from a ISC DHCP server: DESCRIPTION dhcpd-snmp is an extension for the Net-SNMP agent and the ISC DHCP server. It allows you to monitor and track the address usage of your dynamic IP address pools through SNMP. Sources: www.net-track.ch/.../README.php…
  • When you mention RAID to handle the NAT load, would that be on the poller/web server, or the SQL server? SQL Server. It looks like a combination of CPU and RAM - the hardware can only handle a max of 8 GB RAM. I wondered if the CPU were sufficient on the current server when I asked this question. As said 8 GB is sufficient…
  • Thanks for the details. Does the ring uses a specific protocol to advertise when a link is down? That would be great if we could poll a specific OID on the equipment. At which protocol layer level the issue is caused? Maybe your Cisco support could help there to find a pattern when the issue occurs you could not find…
  • The Transform feature in the Universal Device Poller utility does not have any Time functions so I am not sure how you could transform this value in Week/Day/Min. A T-SQL query could convert it but the functions are built-in and it is not possible to add your own functions. It seems to be a feature request => Orion NPM…
  • You can change the description of any port in the NetFlow Settings. Login as an administrator on the web console. Click on Admin > NTA Settings. Edit the Application and Service Ports. Type 3459 in the search bar. Edit the port and modify the description. If you wish to see NTA grouping the Exchange Traffic in a single…

  • But the email I receive states that the device is unmanaged nothing about being up Could post the content of that email?
  • It is not there in 9.1 SP5 either so it is new feature in 9.5.
  • Hi, Have you tried a MIB walk on this server (how-to)? Is a SNMP community string configured (less /etc/snmp/snmpd.conf)? Is the snmp daemon running (top or htop)? If the MIB Walk is only returning information from one of the MIB, is the SNMP string used has access to these MIBs? If it is using Net-SNMP, you can…
  • Hi Link, Yes it is possible, you only have to configure the UnDP poller to poll the relevant OIDs in the Asterisk MIB. You do not need the VoIP module to perform this. The following table will list you which Channels are currently active and the astChanTypeChannels column will enable you to know if this is an IAX call or…

  • Your Recovery Model is probably set to FULL which would explain why your transaction log file is growing quite fast. You can either set it to SIMPLE or backup more regularly the Transaction log. Overview of the Recovery Models
  • Andrew, You should open a support ticket so that a tech will be able to check the logs and the database entries for that node. Once it will be solved, please post the solution here. Of course if someone lorking around that thread has a solution, he/she should post his comments, ideas meanwhile :-) * To Open a Ticket:…
  • Strange that it has to be added twice !? This is because a device can use only one template, so we need a second instance of the same node to use the modified template and keep your configuration as it is for the first instance. I will give a try here in the lab for a 6500 series device. The steps would be: 1- identify the…
  • No it is not binding to UDP Port 514. This would explain why it does not collect any Syslog messages. Is there another service listening on the syslog UDP port?
  •  Did you install the Network Configuration Manager Integration on the Orion web console? This problem might be related to the SolarWinds.Common.dll file installed by the Network Configuration Manager which had a compatibility issue with Orion 9.0 SP2 . This file should have been updated since you upgraded to Orion 9.1 so…
  • Hi, I do not think you can disable them, nevertheless you can filter them out. See the following thread. Here are the Orion NPM Event Type you could filter with the method describe in the above thread. Each Orion module adds its own list of Events to this one. 1 Node Down 2 Node Warning 5 Node Up 8 Node Removed 9 Node…
  • On the first option that you posted, will that remove all devices? Nop, everything is stored in the database (except Maps and Reports \Program Files\Solarwinds\Orion\ in their respective folders). So emptying the Inetpub\Solarwinds\ folder will remove static files and then the Configuration wizard will replace them without…

  • Hi Cameron, If you are using Basic Alerts, the following could help. The ID of the Engine might have changed during the migration. Any new alerts will be assigned to the new engine automatically; however, some old alerts may still be assigned to the old engine. * Open the database in either Database Manager, or SQL…

  • It looks great :). Just to add my 2c, you were right to create a view because the default NetFlowSummary view does not contain the ToS column which makes it useless for the report you built...in case someone ask why it requires to create an additional view.
  • Thanks for the details. If you setup a wireshark trace, open the web console, go to Admin > Manage Nodes. Select your device and click on More Actions > Poll Now. Do you see it polling the *Miss OIDs ?
  • Oh I didn't know that, I feel like an idiot <GRIN> Do not worry, even if I knew it, I needed to re-read the manual attached with the archive to be sure that it has to be installed on the SCOM server... :). Glad it's working now.
  • Hello, This is a common issue. Please read the following thread and let us know if that clarify the problem Regards, Yann
  • EDIT: Solution already posted above by sedmo... I think I got it working. The empty address are not really empty, there is a space in the field. I am not sure how to specify that the physical address is not equal to ' ' in the Report Writer as it does not seem to accept it. Anyway here is the SQL query you can use in an…
