I am having the same problem with CPU util in the SQL Server 2005 APM template. i have a support case open for a few weeks now and have been told that it is due to my servers having multi-core processors. I have not been given ETA of a developmental release to fix this issue

this is a great topic. Alert management is not currently a strong suit of Orion ((this is my opinion). We are in the process of integrating alerts from Solarwinds into a ticket management system (Frontrange ITSM). Within ITSM, all alerts will be treated as incidents, where we can define SLAs and track acknowledgements and…

I am experiencing the same problem as well I have 5 Supermicro servers plugged into a Dell 3348 switch. 3 of the servers have Intel NICs and 2 of them have Broadcom BCM57xx nics. I constently see this same behavior with the Broadcom NICs. has anyone tried updating the NIC driver?

we're currently using Tibco Hawk to monitor our EMS instances I would be intesting in seeing if someone has an APM template that can minimally do status pings to ensure all the EMS brokers are healthy

I'm experiencing this bug with APM 3.0 as well. unmanaging from the APM console works fine. Remanaging does NOT work. What's the workaround for APM? is Solarwinds Development aware of this? Do I need to open a support case?

1) make friends with your DBAs and Sys admins. Convince them to give you a dedicated SQL Server with TONS of RAM and Very fast disks (RAID 10 prefferrable) 2) Install NPM on a separate server (a VM is ok). Installation for NPM and any modules you have is relatively straight foward. SWs documentation and support are pretty…

what about using the unmanage feature for planned downtime?

Great thread. I was just about to start one for the same. I just got "bit in the ass" because the polling engine went down and we didnt receive and alarm when a node went down. Is there anyway I can show the polling engine status on the web console home page for all to see instead of buried in the Admin only view?

Im having the same problem and my NPM poller is on Server 2003. Frustrated as well. lack of confidence in this products ability to monitor our production environment is circling the drain. I look like an idiot to management and my peers as I am the sole person that sets up monitoring for my entire IT organization.

just got bit in the ass this morning because this was turned on when it shouldnt have been. It could have been any one of my NOC techs or sys admins that did it and I have no way of knowing. I need some form of auditing around this very dangerous little check box!!!

This seems like a great feature request. I would love to be able to create gauges for my critical web servers and monitor the Current Connections counter

I have to bring this thread back to life because I totally agree!! I manage hundreds of servers, almost all of them with applications that run on the console session. Can Solarwinds Product Development put this on the "to-do" list for the next Service Pack??? ;)

I feel your pain. Ive done EVERY update and service pack since APM 2.0 came out. I've gone through the WMI troubleshooting guide frontwards and backwards. I've scoured these message boards day after day looking for a solution. I've had to temporarily pause my Alert Engine for weeks now. Basically, my NOC is running with…

I'm curious about this as well. We are building out a new datacenter with Windows Server 2008\SQL 2005 MS Clusters with SAN shared storage. what would be the best way to monitor and alert of all Cluster failovers (initiated or not).

good question. What about replicating accounts accross different NPM servers. Can I copy the accounts table in the database over to other Orion db's?
