Yes, this is a good idea. We have also wanted to associate the monitoring of two IP addresses on the one physical device with the one node.

Is there any change to the names of any of the NCM tables when the NPM and NCM databases are merged? We take copies of a number of the tables in our NCM 7.2.2 database for further processing and analysis. We would like to know before any upgrade to NCM 7.3 whether the names (or the contents) of any of the tables will…

I do hope that SolarWinds is considering improving the ability for users to determine if line number are included in the NCM config. I thank those people who have take the time out to vote for this suggestion and hope that it will be included in a future release. So now to cahunt's query. There are probably a lot of…

Hi there Jiri... Thanks for getting back to me. The NCM tables that we take copies of at the moment are: CATOSPorts, Cisco_CDP, Cisco_Chassis, Cisco_ImageMIB, ConfigArchive, Entity_Physical, Interfaces, IPAddress, Nodes, Policy Rules, Users If you could confirm with engineering as to the new names of these tables when the…

This would be a great idea. Currently we run ipMonitor to check the status of our Orion NPM servers and their services. It's a bit of a waste to have a separate product to monitor the product that you are using to manage your network and other servers.

Yes, this is a great suggestion. On this topic, it would be helpful if validation was done of the custom properties. So often we have a situation where people add nodes to NPM but make innocent typos. This can cause havoc. If there was a drop down list of suggested items, like the SNMP v2c community names, thid would…

We have some scripts to create and then back up F5 UCS files, but it would be nicer for this feature to be built into NCM.
-
Yes! I have always wondered why this feature has not been present.
-
The current situation is that you have to manually update the database to change the hardware monitoring. We are progressively moving a lot of our physical servers to virtual servers. We would much prefer to press a button than to have to update the database.
-
Yes, yes, yes. I also agree this is a must. It is much better to try and get users to add nodes correctly the first time rather than having to set up other automation and checking to try and fix the issue later.

XML API data gathering will allow us to better manage Cisco Nexus and Cisco video conferencing infrastructure.
-
Yes yes yes. It baffles me that the list of nodes in a report are not able to be sorted. This is definitely needs to be implemented. Not having it sorted makes the reports look amaterish.
-
Sure, I am all up for this feature request to be able to support as many configuration types as possible.

Yes, I would like to be able to get SolarWinds to perform an SNMP Set on specific OIDs. so that the values of other OIDs can be set do a similar thing. The Cisco Call Arrival Rate (CISCO-VOICE-DIAL-CONTROL-MIB) OIDs includes cvCallRateMonitorEnable and cvCallRateMonitorTime. If we could update the values of these OIDs in…

Yes, yes, yes, yes. We would also find this as a very useful feature. If alerts are used to change the status of a node in NPM it would mean that support personnel only have to look at the Network Summary page without having to look at this and the Alerts page to get an overview of the status of all of the nodes in the…

Hi Ken... Has this question been answered to your satisfaction? I have the same issue described in your original post. I have tried using the 'Full Name' and other fields in the 'Ingress Interface' to filter the Netflow results however I have not had any luck at this stage. The report is continually returning no results.…

Yes, we would also like to see this feature. It looks very similar to the 'Change Node Status with Alerts' feature request. ... Simon Evans

Hello. We are seeing the same issue where the script variable ${SysName} is not being resolved by a scheduled job in Orion NCM (Cirrus) V5. The last post in this thread indicates there is a potential fix for this issue with an updated version of the "ConfigMgmtEngine8.dll" file. Is this freely available? If so, how would…

Hello... Thanks for the link. Has the Solarwinds MIB database been updated with the additional MIBs that you were after? We have just installed some ESXi 4.1 servers. When doing an SNMP walk of the servers with the latest MIB databse we do not get the 'VMWARE-OBSOLETE-MIBS' in the list of MIBs. We are hoping (maybe…

Hello Christine... Success. If I only have spaces and alphanumeric characters in the job name then the jobs are correctly displayed in the job list. Interestingly the job has a status of Disabled, so I needed to manually enable to job. Note when any change is made to the job name in the ".ConfigMgmtJob" a new job entry is…

Based on this conversation, it appears there is no way that a 'Node Warning' event can be logged. Yet here we are two years later and this is still one of the event types that is present in the 'Event Type' drop down box. Is there any plans for NPM to add 'Node Warning' events to the Event Log when a Node goes into warming…

Ah!! The web interface has hyperlinks. Why didn't I think of that? There was I thinking they were just icons with no use. I can now sleep at night. After your hint, I can confirm that in NCM 7.0.2 the NCM web page does the same behaviour you describe in NCM 7.1.1. In the GUI on the NCM server for 7.0.2 the violationicons…

Hello RjL... Yes, your suggestion to use the syslog engine to run a program to set a custom property would be a good way to effectively raise an alert for a syslog message. I agree that this looks to be the more flexible option. I am disappointed that this thread has been going for almost six years and there is still no…

Agreed. We would like to have 64-bit counters enabled as default and disabled for those few devices that do not support 32-bit counters. ... Simon

A 'connection timed out' message typically means there is an issue establishing the initial connection from the F5 device to the server that you are using SCP to connect to the device. In these circumstances, it is best to issue the manual scp command on the F5 device and see if the connectivity works. If you get the same…

I have just had the same issue with NPM 10.6. Recreating the alert and pasting in the SQL worked. It's unfortunate that this issue still appears to be around with the latest version.
-
Hi there... For the record we have worked out what the issue was. It was the Virus Scanner software on the ipMonitor server after all. Hidden in the Access Protection task of the McAfee VirusScan Console was a rule that some how had been enabled. The rule stopped the server from sending any traffic on port 25 (SMTP). We…

Thanks RichardLetts for providing the reset conditions for your Syslog example. I had been stuggling on coding a reset condition for a number of days. When you set up a 'Custom SQL Alert' the 'standard' SolarWinds reset query condition (when 'Reset when trigger conditions are no longer true' is selected) does not work as…

Thanks for the response. Is there anything that can be done in the short term to return the jobs back to the list? I have tried changing the contents of a ".ConfigMgmtJob" file where the hypens (-) are replaced by equals (=) but this does not appear to allow these jobs to be added to the list.

I had the same issue where the panes had been reorganised by accident. The suggestion by ronald.huizar worked, but it takes a little fiddling around as the Node List seems to prefer float rather than being in a pane. It's a shame the NCM Administrator Guide does not appear to describe the behaviour of the panes in the NCM…
