can IOPS and disk queue length be used via SNMP?
-
Any news on this?

* Use NPM,SAM,VMAN,NCM and UDT from Solarwinds * Splunk for network logs and web application logging * ELK (elasticsearch / Logstash / Kibana) for Windows event security logs - this is an alternative to Splunk, as have quite a low daily GB limit and our event log data is huge * Nagio for Postgres / Debian monitoring *…

OK Another question. Would you be able to adapt this so i could see increases in other areas? 1 think that would be amazing to see if is a NIC normally has overall RX/TX of <0.1% and then the next day it is at 20% - we wouldn't see that in alerts normally - or is there a better way of doing that!? Thanks again, this is a…

if anyone else is getting this kind of error, it was a problem with the database server being in a different location to the solarwinds server. Migrated the DB to a new sql server in the same datacentre, and havent seen the error since.

i've opened a support case, i'll update this thread if / when i get a resolution thanks again
-
Agreed
-
Excellent thanks! i didn't mean to break it, it was like that when i got here!
-
I will open a case in the morning, thanks for taking the time to look at it mate Ian
-
OK - worked it out - the threshold in milliseconds, not seconds - so setting to 12000 now shows correctly aLTeReGo - just FYI - but if i use the baseline threshold - this sets it in the wrong format.
-
Thanks for this, very useful. The email action doesnt work for me, the 'percent available yesterday' does work - just sends the SQL. Any clue?
-
thanks, but changing the threshold has no affect: its as if it is just ignoring the changes. Thanks!
-
This was the resolution for me: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa995801(EXCHG.80).aspx Thanks for your help Ian
-
yup - that was it. Had it set to suppress a specific node. That is really weird. Thanks for your help
-
no worries! DNS is Windows 2008 R2
-
+1 for Debian
-
yep - its no major issue, i'm sure you have more important things!
-
fair enough - i always thought it was because the data was being rolled up!
-
yeah its weird, the output is completely different to if i output it to a file. PS C:\Windows\system32> $raw = get-cacheclusterhealthPS C:\Windows\system32> write-host $rawMicrosoft.ApplicationServer.Caching.Commands.ClusterHealth So thats weird. If i output to a file, it formats it as in my original post. I don't really…

yep have done that - but it is the things like 'nodes with high response times' etc - the built in resources. They will look at all of the nodes regardless. Work around is, as you say to create a custom property and then filter the nodes on that in all of the resources. Its a pain - but it gets what i need.
-
Nice one mate - thanks for the information. I'll give it a whirl!
-
I have full admin rights, and it's the same in IE. Think i'll have to open a ticket! Thanks for your help
-
hi mate, sorry for the late reply! I have actually found a better way for doing what i need. Basically i now have the reboot alert write to the log, and the email notification wait 3 minutes before being sent. In the email alert i have 'don't send if acknowledged' - so if a reboot is planned, it is acknowledged in the log,…

Thanks aLTeReGo for the help, but i don't seem to be able to see those files on the installation DVD? This is where i am currently: 1) Have unloaded and reloaded performance counters: http://blogs.technet.com/b/mikelag/archive/2010/09/10/how-to-unload-reload-performance-counters-on-exchange-2010.aspx 2) Have copied new…

i'll give that a go. what happens when an agent IP changes? i guess it will still show as down for a short while?
-
all SNMP. Apologies, NPM version is 10.3.1
-
scratch that - default time period is 24 hours, and there were no matching syslogs from that time. Changing to 7 days shows exactly what i need
-
just to bump this one too - i choose avg value - click preview and get:

Did you ever open a ticket on this? realise it was about 2 years ago!

hi mate, Yep - agree that the most relevant result is at the top - but like i said it is basically just me being lazy. A quick rough search from the search box brings back results, but i would prefer to see more. Sure, if it doesnt show me what i want i can just refine the search, but having a definable return results…
