That guy works there too!?!

Traceroute is still a valuable tool. I am sure that NetPath will be a great tool, but I usually start with the hand tools before I break out the power tools. You know, like flipping the light switch on and off before getting out the volt-meter.

Thanks sqlrockstar, good stuff as always!

Unless he sits like Mork.

Seems like people are confusing Chassis with Blade. They are asking how many Blades are in use. Not how may are in the Chassis. Just how many Blades are hosting VMs. This is pretty common vernacular for Virtual environments, but if you are not someone who works in this area, I do understand the confusion.

You are correct. I misinterpreted the wrong information correctly?!? Hopefully did not cause additional confusion.

good articles, lots to think about this week. Mostly how much work my yard needs!

Same for me. Reputation is everything!

So, as I am reading this, at 2:37 AM after having been awakened by the on-call engineer because of a massive storage failure, because remote access is not working and wishing I had caffeine, and then being able to fix the remote problem in less than 10 minutes (only slightly McGuyverishly, still without caffeine) is what…

Awesome picture! I once had cabling like that, then the other guy ran some cables and well, now I don't have cabling like that.
-
Now I have to watch the movie (again)!

Very much enjoyed this group of articles, in particular the "12 Things" and Netflix pieces. I fully believe that technology and the internet are all about money and things like facebook and other social media's are simply there to make us think it is about us as users and not as consumables. Please keep up the good work…

Finally got back to reading this (started with part 2). Excellent explanation of 'Cloud' and what it means to go there. I plan to share this with some of our management types who seem to think cloud and virtual are cheap because you don't have to buy stuff, as in "we have a virtual environment so adding a server doesn't…

but just think of the announcement at work... "there is a car in the parking lot with it's lights on, license plate bacon bacon bacon smiley face exclamation point"

I got these from Loot Crate.

Sadly, I am working but at least I have Thwack to keep me company!

These links are... fine, just fine!

Made bacon snacks for the premier of The Walking Dead last night, regular bacon, deep-fried bacon and beer-maple-glazed bacon. Sorry, I did not take pics to post. Didn't think of it until most of it was eaten! Also, thanks again for the links, always enjoy them!

I am all for driver-less cars (the kind with no actual driver, not the ones with people pretending to drive while they work their smart phones). WOPR: how about a nice game of chess?

I still have my original NES.

Last time I received Survey points was from the December 2018 Mission. Pretty sure I completed at least a couple of the surveys since then. On the other hand, I received the daily 150 every day except today! I have faith that they will get this all straightened out

Yes. Add Palo Alto!

We have two UPS's that supply our data center, one is relatively new, the other is not. These are connected to a Generator that is capable of powering the entire building. Occasionally the generator will kick in and spike the power, which will cause the UPS to go into bypass, cutting off utility power, but every once in…

That doesn't explain the windy part....

Awesome job on this mission maria.bungau, and congrats to all the winners!

Now I need to go find a recipe! Thanks sqlrockstar for another awesome application of bacon!

Another round of excellent articles. Some thought-provocation going on here. Thanks as always.

Congrats on the milestone! I just hit 18 years with my current employer today. Beats my old record of 17 years with my previous employer.

Another great set of articles sqlrockstar! I, too, want the 'Ministry of No!' shirt. Let me know when you find them. As for the camera disabling bit, still undecided. Don't care about concerts and such, but there are some places where it would be good to have, locker rooms for instance....
