  • In addtion to the specifics cited by Mr. Driskell I would also like to see the Suspend further Alert Actions under the Trigger Threshold tab modified so it works based on Trap Source and Trap OID together and not just the OID. Currently if I get a trap from a UPS in Atlanta telling me it has switched to battery power and I…
  • According to SW tech support two custom pollers can not be evaluated in the same advanced alert. They say this issue will be addressed with the new Universal Device Poller. I'm a little surprised by this anyone out in the user community have an advanced alert working based on logic from two diffferent custom pollers?
  • Sorry for the confusion Steve and if you weren't in Texas we could have this figured out before beer # 2. Not sure why I posted this in such generic terms so let me be more specific. I have a custom poller that checks the status of the VPN tunnels on my firewalls. The issue I have is that at many of our locations we have…
  • NOS, If I unerstand your question correctly you are right in thier wheelhouse. I have a global network and have categorized my nodes by region, city, and thier function (mail servers, access switch, POP router, etc.) I can bring up what they refer to as an All Nodes View . Initially what I see is a stop light for each…
  • Thanks Steve, Tried that and no alerts trigger. To check my logic I created three separate alerts 1)custompollername =pollername1 and custompollerstatus=0 this fires off about 17 alerts 2)custompollername=pollername2 and custompollerstatus=3 fires off about 21 alerts a comparison between the two shows only two nodes appear…
  • The short answer is no. In my environment even testing new software requires that I go through a formal approval process. I have begun that process but have not, and probably won't for a few weeks, been given approval to proceed. SW did provide me with a new DLL after SP4 failed to resolve my issue but that does not appear…
  • SP4 did not resolve my issue
  • Opened new case - Case #49789 - "Job Scheduler keeps crashing on .NET errors" Original Case Number was #44750
  • Not sure if this is similar to what I was seeing which was about once a week the JobScheduler would constantly crash and restart on .NET errors. Too make a very long story short, found that the jobscheduler is very sensitive to latency between the primary Orion server and the DB server. Anytime latency between these two…
  • I installed SP4 on July 1 on July 5 at 2:30 AM I began getting the exact same .NET errors I had before SP4 and like before the Job Scheduler crashes and restarts every two minutes. This problem continued until I stopped and restarted all Orion services this AM. This is exaclty the same problem I have been having for months…
  • Has a firm release date been determined ?
  • Maybe you can provide some more details on the report in question? Best guess is (assuming you have the summarization tab set to what you want) is that you have something in the "Select Fields" that can't be summarized. Quick example would be if it's a UnDP Historical Report and you have one of the Select statements as…
  • I understand the Hot Stanby Engine scenario. But if you need to add high avail to your DB and you create a SQL cluster has anyone verified that NPM works in this environment, especially when there is a DB failover ?
  • Thanks for the reply.... I believe we fixed it. We decided to rerun the Orion executable (after first backing up our database). Rerunning that, we choose "repair" and let that run. "Repair" suggested we run a hotfix* so we did that. Then we reran the Application Monitor installation and it worked! Who knows what went…
  • I am running 9.5 SP4 and while your suggested workaround had an effect on my events page it still is not reading in new events when it refreshes. Every X minutes you do see the screen refresh take place (you did not see this prior to your suggestion) but it is more like a re-paint of the existing screen as it still does…
  • We are having a similar issue. Intermittently we get .NET Runtime 2.0 error, Event ID 5000 which shuts down the Job Scheduler, at times the Scheduler automatically restarts and all is well. At other times when the Scheduler restarts the same .NET error occurs and the Scheduler shuts back down. This process will repeats…
  • I was thinking more along the lines of polls and alerts for metrics like how many messages are in my Exchange queues, and metrics that might indicate issues with AD replication between my DC's.
  • Just an FYI. I just had the same problem running NPM 10.4.2 and clearing the check "Group Historical..." checkbox did not clear the problem. I ended up viewing the report as SQL, copying and pasting the code as a new SQL Report and that report produced the same results in both preview mode and via the web interface.
  • I see some are users downloading APM SP4 but I have not seen nor received any formal announcement from SW that this service pack is ready and available for distribution.
  • Thanks Denny, Is the problem caused by user interaction with APM? I ask because I am in the process of advertising APM to my user community. If the problem is caused or will occur more frequently by an icrease in user interaction with the app. then I will need to stop this process until the fix is supplied. If there is no…
  • I am having this problem where we disabled TLS 1.0 on a few servers and as soon as we did my HTTPS and Cert Expiry Monitors against those servers failed immediately. Can I just go ahead and upgrade .NET to 4.5.2 on my SW server and those monitors will work again or do I need to wait until SAM can be upgraded to 6.3 also ?…
  • I have read alot of posts on truncating traps from the DB but this is the first one that includes specifying a date time frame, which is what I need. Just to confirm ..I'm running 8.5.1sp3 and a 2005 SQL Standard server. I am going to 1)backup my DB 2)shudown my pollers 3)go to the query window of the TrapVarBinds table…
  • Samuel, Worked with someone in SW support and he had us add the SolarWinds_Website to the security tab for the Reports folder under C:\Inetpub\SolarWinds\NetPerfMon\Reports and assign it "Full Control" permissions. Not sure if this is 'the" fix as currently our reports are showing up and given that we have not been able to…
  • Do you mean if I installed Orion in the default location (I never get to instruct the Application Monitor installation where I want to install it - it never gets that far)? The answer is "yes", it is in the default location. I don't believe it is the installation executable itself that is the problem. It has something to…
  • Denny, Given an anticipated release date of summer of 08 you must be pretty well locked into what new features will be in version 9. I'm sure you realize better than I that without a list you will be deluged by people of my ilk asking if thier most coveted feature(s) will be in included. In case a list is not forthcoming…
  • Opened ticket number 301098. Will update this post as appropriate.
  • Chris, When you go into Configure a New Advanced Alerts make sure on the tab for "Trigger Condition" that you use the drop down "Type of Property to Monitor" menu to select Custom Node Poller. Then build conditions to isolate the poller name then trigger when the status goes to 0.
  • Denny, With all due respect...I have had one problem with APM and that is that the JobScheduler frequently crashes on .NET 2.0 errors rendering APM useless in providing useful metrics as to application/service availability. That is what was happening 6 months ago and that is what is still happening today. The fact that SW…
  • Is there an ETA for the release of APM service pack 4 ?
  • Not looking to pile on but would like some clarification. I have been working with SW Tech Support since May 20th on an issue where .net errors are causing the SW Job Scheduler to crash then it auto restarts and then the .net error occurs again causing this process to repeat until I shut down and restart all services. Is…
