Many applications that are purchased are used for a single function. Like document management. I have heard "We bought the document management system to do the one thing (like contact management)." So they do not even think about using it for other areas like purchasing documentation or inventory paperwork. Too many people…

Congratulations to the winners! sean.mccormick, raymondo, and cdpete. Have a great day!!! My internal voice says, "What, I did not win!!!!! Man that stings! Well I should congratulate the winners, they did get all the questions right and had the luck" RT

Tools of the trade... I always say, "All I know is the basics, but I know them very well." I have to agree, knowing how to use the essential tools are needed. Got boolean math? I do not code but I have made some fine well-documented batch files over the years. I have also cleaned up some sprawling login scripts.…

Trust in the cloud is only part of the problem. Trusting the developers not to leave the S3 bucket open to the world because "any any is easy and fixes the issue" is the hard part. RT

Anyone been to WellsFargo.com today? I am thinking no since it has been down for over five hours.

For me it is stringed fretted instruments and associated equipment like amplifiers. I am still looking for a nice mid range priced (under $600) mandolin and a small amplifier for the living room. The amplifier is the big issue since I want a Mesa Boogie Mark V 35 combo with a single 12 inch speaker and will not settle for…

After Octomore, Irish whiskey tastes peat smokey. So does water. My friend loves Laphroig. I go for the other end of the scale. Glengoyne. No smoke or peat. One thing I have learned is that everyone tastes different and likes different. So there is no "my drink is better then yours.....". It is just what each of us likes…

I am a bit OCD about my racks. I would have to all of the Panduit covers face the same way. I would change them.... I would change them.... I would change them.... Sorry I channeled my inner "Sheldon Cooper" a bit. RT

I have met a few people in IT over the past 23 years that do not want to learn or move on. The first time it happened it was a shock to my brain. I could not wrap my head around the concept of not learning new aspects of my current or future job. I blame my father for this. He was always learning and moving forward. RT

They mention debounce in the latency article. I remember that one of the computers of that time had to add a lot debounce time into the keyboard to keep it from displaying multiple repeated charactersssssssss. RT

Which book. The CCSP All In One book is most recommended. Many are reading the NIST and other original source documents, 2013 OWASP Top 10 and how to mitigate them. https://www.cybrary.it/ has a course but it is not as good as the their CISSP course. RT
