AlterEgo These are very nice. Can we ensure that this next NPM verison release will improve scalability??? I'm already at 12 Servers and a DB. Due to security restrictions, the system must in a Data Center. Current architecture is now at limit, devices cannot have 12 separate IPs. If this version will allow for clustering…

I was told 10.4 would allow for 3 Poller Clusters to be presented as a single IP to improve the architecture and scalability in major enterprises. We have a main NPM and 11 Polling Engines with a Standalone Dell R900 DB. Production devices 1,268 Number of Elements 86,786 Does this new release allow 3 polling server…

Unfortunately, using the EOC while helpful to an administrator, how do you get separate databases to appear as one? Right now I have a PRIMARY NPM server and 11 Polling Engines, with a standalone Database. The true NON scalability is from the limited number of elements that can be monitored by a single polling engine, it…

Thanks Richard... won't work if the Custom Properties aren't there to export to excel. It was the very first thing I thought of. I mis spoke earlier there are 99 Site Codes, every time we install a VoIP Node and add a node (location for an access node there can be 10 or more devices which provide the services) it gets a…

I was told the the new release of NPM 10.4 would allow for 3 polling engine clusters presenting a single IP to the network. Is this the case? If so a diagram of how this looks would be helpful. Thanks Radioman

We would like to see that as well, right now the dashboards are GREAT!!! and all the Sub data area links in them. I can Mail them even, and Exec find them impressive... But I can't Schdule them or create reports with the same data n them. None of the canned reports really does what the Dashboards do. Feature requests,…

While the NEW and IMPROVED Custom Property Editor is outstanding for NEW folks. When long time customers established custom properties over the last 8years, to find upon upgrading that they are ALL GONE on THOUSANDS of Nodes... has been a Kick in the ...er... teeth. I'll give you an EXAMPLE. The Custom Property STATE,..…

Any truth to the rumor that this release will vastly increase the element limits and allow far more than 12,000 elements per server instance?

Outstanding Chrystal!!!! You need to write the users manuals for NPM, some are so general they are really no help.

Tech support CASE #295996 I've asked that this be sent to development. IE has a fix yes http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q175500 2 methods "fit it for me" and "fix it myself" but the fix is so slow, and doesn't always work with large interface resource discoveries and takes several attempts to work.…

I reposted, but since this was about collecting interrfaces automatically, I felt it belonged here. Next for large Enterprises, it can't be an ALL or Nothing solution for new interfaces, my problem is we are growing exponentially. In responsed to my feature request, I got, use sonar. well that's just fine, if you don't…

My backup is there prior to the 10.4, I don't feel like loosing 2 weeks worth of data. Thanks for pointing out my faults and pecadillos. You have a better day, or you could respond here and post.... SHAME SHAME. Radioman

I have 30 MXs now with another 6 before the end of the year. GE/FE/XE/AE/LC/IP/and a few more.. On my hottest server I have a mix of Juniper M10i and MX960s. Total Element count right now is 8,146 after deleting out unnecessary interfaces. Viewed via the Node Manager thats 33 pages of 250 interfaces on one server. Based on…

We are running SW NMP 11.1 and VCenter 5.1 ESXI - We can get SNMP functining in our LAB, but when we tried in production it seems very difficult to get the RO SNMP COMM String to work V2c or V1. Frankly just using the VM Pollng does not get the Physical Interfaces from the NIC Cards to the other Network Devices the VCenter…

Mav , this problem was resolved at 9:30CST last night by running a large SQL script provided to me by James L. This still required a reconfig of main NPM so my scheduled reports would run and web pages update. The fix did not apply to the Web View with regards to custom properties, I'm just going to remove them from the…

It's not apparent, if hotfix 2 is added to 3, why not just FIX the 10.4 Release and be done with it, I have to load this stuff on 12 servers. it's a pain. Radioman

Richard I was on 10.2.1 and did Backup the Db, my previous should have said 10.4 and fixes 1 and 3. Thanks RM

Are Kidding? I have 12 Servers. I upgraded to 10.1, and applied 2 Fixes 1 & 3 had issues with Mib Charting (i,.e., NONE worked) Case 434205) So the "Technical Solution" was to load 10.4.1 During this time, I was so busy upgrading and fielding user questions and comments about new features and tabs I didn't notice that…

12 Servers X 12,000 elements = 144,000 Currently, we have 35,487 elements on the entire system, 2 servers are at zero and just installed and not in any ACLs or the IDN firewalls. Currently Total Server Utilization would be 25% Elements (one is a hot standby, one is for another organization and thier Cisco 3020 switches) So…

I'd like to add my request for this feature with the following capabilities. *ability to select specific interfaces to auto detect new or deleted sub-interfaces *ability to select by site, machine type or interface type (E.G., GigE, XE, AE or other specific interface. Not Type 6 or 3 etc) *ability to automatically detect…

Exactly Sohail, Scalabilty is a major concern now in our Enterprise network. With the initial activation of Solarwinds way back in version 8. We started with 2 servers an NPM and a Hot Standby Engine. Now I have a Primary NPM server and 11 additional polling engines, on a mix of stand alone Dell 2950s and VMs. the Db is on…

I am having the same problem on a Solaris Server (essentially Unix/LINUX) operating a Broadsoft App. SEE Previously set up as v2c after a release change, reboot or similar event, the universal mibs continue to collect data but the interfaces all go UNKNOWN. As a test, I deleted the node and re-added it and it refused to…

Thanks for the help but it didn't work, I've tried that before, as well as changing to No Formating. Using Numeric Data and putting either a 0 or 0.0 in the Format String doesn't change the 10+ decimal output. Looks like a tech ticket Thanks again nrms. The Radioman

I can't get it to work in FF v5

Hows this - I have essentially 934 nodes or devices as it were. Each one has a details page that you get to by clicking on that device from the Summary Page. What we're looking for is a way to pull ALL 934 device NAMES and ALL the associated Net Object number associated with that details page.. So it should produce 2…

121895 and 139188 - I was told the ticket was refered to development for future releases, yet this continues to be a problem. I get the interfaces installed and working, and some time later they go UNKNOWN. No one particular platform (e.g., Cisco, Juniper, Acme Packet or Adtran are immune)

&DataFormat=XLS Will this method export the charts as well?

Roger, What about USER NAME can that be changed, prefer not to Query in EMEA and APAC, and across US using ROOT. Unfortunately, we need to use SNMP for the PHYSICAL interfaces from/to the VCenter, it would be helpful if the VCenter Memory and CPU could be trended as well, just knowning the VM environ doesn't always paint a…
