for windows servers I would monitor physical/virtual memory instead of the memory given by "Cpu&Memory" as this memory reporting has been confirmed as inaccurate by Solarwinds (they are hoping Microsoft will fix this sometime soon which is why they are not fixing it themselves by monitoring another OID for windows servers).

well, the existing alert is for nodes only, not for interfaces as i tried to explain. And I dont want/need it as a report but as an alarm.

that's only for the standard banner though, we have changed the banner and have set the deliminator to the "^" and can download the configs with NCM just fine. (using the exact NX-OS you mentioned...) PS: perhaps a bit easier than to adjust the template

Hi Pyro, just to rule out the obvious... the checkmark to display the report in the webconsole (to be set within the report settings on the server) is checked, right? the user trying to access the report also has its report directory set (in the account settings) to the one this report is located at? It should not make a…

I think report writer defaults to "Top 10000", there is an option tab (Top XX)where you can change this. To make sure that it doesn't restrict it to 10k, you can also click on the "Report" in the menu bar and make sure that "Show SQL" is checked. Your report will then have an extra tab which shows a read-only version of…

isn't there a powershell command on exchange to figure this out? we have created a powershell script that checks SCR, returns the amount of healthy storage groups and exits with down status if any one of them is not healthy. this didnt work as powershell is so extremely limited in APM, therefore solarwinds staff took the…

well, but everything else in orion is made for history and reporting... :) at some companies its more difficult than you might think to use an additional software for it. if you bought orion to replace cattools and kiwi syslog, its difficult to explain why you would now need the free kiwi syslog version to replace orion…

Pearson... *rant on* the company that jacked my money... providing exams and if the exam is faulty you tell them to sort it out with cisco.... :P *rant off* sorry but we havent experienced this issue, I assume this is a Cisco 7200? is this the only boxx you are having problems with? which IOS version are you running?

yea... but how would I automatically choose the ID? for example I am monitoring something unrelated to the service and then I want to restart the service "ABC", how would I go at it by just knowing the service name?

I would suggest the first suggested option, create a custom property for the department and create an alert for each department filtered on that custom property, if you have devices all departments should be alerted upon, name the department alldepartments or something like that and filter the alert so it has to include…

haha :P delay? 7years is not delay anymore, thats digging up a grave. the question was probably related to Windows NT back then ;-)

they are 2800series and 1700series, one 3745. i am looking for min/average/max of interfaces being used only
-
I think he means outage duration of each application template sorted by server :)

ok, I got this so far: ' ' Script: restart-service.vbs ' ' Purpose: Restart a service as a result of a SolarWinds ' NPM alert action. ' ' Usage: .\restart-service.vbs <computer> <service> '============================================================================== Option Explicit Dim objWMIService, objItem, objService,…

actually it is a bit more complicated if you dont want to receive several hundred emails just because WMI is not working ;) We had someone develop a SQL-query for this use case, it doesnt query whats unknown but rather wherever the polling has stopped when it shouldn't have, the same query can be used to do the same for…

definitely something we have been looking for as well... unfortunately even with ALX you cannot cover every possible process... it would be real nice to see which processes used how much memory and cpu over the past but I guess thats really hard to implement
-
well, i think i have been added long ago as I requested this when I started using Orion and was requested to update all the time... hope this will be available and for free for existing customers.
-
yea... i have also requested something like a lab copy... good for trying out new versions, service packs, hotfixes, release candidates before deploying them or to mess around with, train colleagues on it and let them try stuff on there freely as well without damaging the production system... for me, something like AL20,…

well, there is a monitor for BES 5.0.1 in the content exchange... cant you just monitor the cluster service for this as well?
-
you also cannot use the toolset integration properly with internet explorer anymore

Hi Bronx, you first wrote: There is a known issue in APM 4.0.2 that dates do not follow regional settings consistently; however, this issue has been corrected in the upcoming APM 4.2 release. what has changed your mind and what exactly do you plan to investigate? :-)
-
this seemed to have solved the issue occurring at 12AM/PM :-) PS: I have a If then else implemented, if month = 12 then year+1 and month =1, the script hasnt passed a year-turnover yet though Thanks, lets hope APM 4.2 is better (isnt it always? ) and will come out soon.
-
yea, that would be a cool feature so you only have to create one alert for all devices... although I'd like to see something like a delta of the 90-95% max instead of average and then alert if the average of the last X polls exceeds this.
-
Have you tried disabling the toolset integration on the profiles? or is that not an option for you?
-
i think its being worked on but wont be in the next release... i am not sure but i think its the only thing that ciscoworks can do that orion cannot, well that and automatic topology graphing within Orion.
-
we seem to have a similar issue with e.g. a SFP transceiver showing an alarm for the Transmit Power Sensor (with a value of -29) There are other alarms though with temperature, bias, or receive transmit... any fix in sight? NPM is v 10.4.2 as well

Hello Marie, thank you! :) Q

I believe a year ago or so they released a new variable/macro with the acknowledge-id so you can create your own link. I just recently switched to a different company which do not own Orion -yet-, so I cannot look it up but I am sure you'll find it if you look for it in the section where you insert macros/variables. ahhh, yea.. that was where I read it :P I knew I read it but wasnt interested as I knew we were not going to make the website available over a public IP but when I heard that blackberries can browse intranet websites because they access the websites over the blackberry server it reminded me of this feature... will you need…

do i have the same issue when I always see a statistic value of 0 but the graph and status say differently?
