  • Just a follow up on this; After running some delete commands and re-indexing and compressing some of the Wireless DB tables, my nightly maint. actually finished last night. However, it took almost 30 minutes to summarize the Wireless data: 2012-04-13 02:38:21,016 [1] INFO…
  • It appears you can only add limitations based on CUSTOM properties. Since you are trying to use discovered properties, unless that property is already listed in the defaults, you must add a custom property yourself & base it on that.
  • See this post for the missing image (including the typo). I'm not sure why this is so difficult to get fixed.... ?
  • I'm assuming this refers to the Basic Alerts configured on each polling engine using System Manager? If you are using the advanced alerts, then you would only need to do this on the "master" polling/web server, since the advanced alerts pull the info directly from the Orion DB.
  • First of all you are using the wrong Solarwinds module for alerting. NCM is designed for Network Configuration Management, not performance monitoring. You are comparing apples to oranges. I suggest you use the NPM module for this.
  • Chris, have you tried the solarwinds.com domain as well? I have received e-mails from both .net & .com domains.... I'm not sure what domain Solarwinds is standardizing on going forward ?
  • Detach the resource and paste in the URL of the detached view, rather than the properties: OrionServer/.../DetachResource.asp Not sure if this is what you are looking for?
  • Back a few years there was a radio button in Mapmaker that allowed you to not display the list of elements below the map. One of my maps I created back then still maintains this view. All other maps display a list of map elements below the map. <EDIT> this radio button was on the web admin page when adding a map to a view…
  • Richard, I think I know why the first solution did not work System Name = Empty. I believe when Orion polls the device with SNMP, it does not poll the System Name. The only time it would poll the System Name is when it re-discovers the device, so this would depend on the rediscover interval you have set in your System…
  • Thanks, I found that, but it still includes all the unwanted formatting such as "help" or "save as PDF" in the report. I have three charts, each which includes a header, but these are messed up with the text which is put into the report contents, even when selecting "printable page" I finally figured out how to get a nice…
  • You can copy & paste objects from Visio or Powerpoint directly into Mapmaker. I use the Cisco Powerpoint icons & paste them directly into Mapmaker. As for the network link line, rather than assigning the line to a node, just leave it unassigned & drag each interface over the line next to it's node. You will have a small…
  • Hi Rabih, You can upgrade to V9.1 SP3 or apply the hotfix mentioned 23 times in this post:
  • Pass-thru works only for individual user account or the "everyone" account in the Domain. It does not work with AD groups (a very useful function requested by many).
  •  Have a look in the CSZ, this post shows 3 custom pollers displayed as gauges in a single chart: thwack.com/.../picture23211.aspx The code is also posted.
  • I did something similar some time ago, although a little more basic. It does not show the Node info in Google - just the location of the Node. I created a link on the node details page with the following code (must be customized to use your own Custom Resources). <tr> <td class="Property"><a target="_blank"…
  • Hi Swack, There have been a few new posts regarding this topic since those links were posted; Node Details View - Multiple Gauges In One Custom HTML Element Re: Node details from multiple nodes on one screen There is also a tutorial for this located here: Display multiple Interface resources in one page - SolarWinds…
  • The short answer is yes. There are several ways this can be done, but the first one that comes to mind is using the Custom Property Editor to associate the Juniper with the Edge router. You could add a custom property with the NodeID of the Juniper or a URL to a specific Juniper chart or graph, and associate it with the…
  • For Firefox ctrl -/+, is that different that choosing Font Size in View in IE6? Font Size in View in IE 6 does not adjust the font of the Events listed in our view. Thanks. That's like implying a Chevy is the same as a Toyota. If you've never driven a Toyota, you don't know what your are missing :-p Trust meet it works:
  • All is now well with the Orion 8.1 upgrade. Here are the details for anyone else doing this: Start: * Server OS - Win2k3, no .Net2.0, no Service Packs installed, running Orion V7.8.2 Steps taken: * Install Windows .Net2.0 framework as per upgrade guide here. * Compact DB tables & indexes manually with DB Manager * Zip all…
  • You can delete interfaces, nodes, etc. using the Orion database manager. Here is one post of a few describing how to do this.
  • Bump - Here is an example of the TTL that is included with the Windows ping command: c:\>ping yahoo.ca Pinging yahoo.ca [68.180.206.184] with 32 bytes of data: Reply from 68.180.206.184: bytes=32 time=116ms TTL=49 Reply from 68.180.206.184: bytes=32 time=105ms TTL=48 Reply from 68.180.206.184: bytes=32 time=110ms TTL=48…
  • Thanks for the suggestion. I have never used this feature before and just ran into it yesterday for the first time on another vendors product (that's what they use to create reports). How steep is the learning curve for this? The Orion Report Writer is very simple to use and self explanatory, so I would expect this to be…
  • I don't know if this was introduced in SP1 or has never worked correctly but when adding nodes, the statistics collections and rediscovery interval settings are not being honoured. I have set my defaults to 6mins for node statistics and 12 minutes for interface statistics polling but the node details & interface details…
  • Thanks, that worked like a charm.
  • See my signature tag below.
  • Thanks Peter. Here is another one: I imported my IPAM DB from the Engineeers Toolset. All the subnets are in a single flat hierarchy. I'm now dragging and dropping the subnets into groups. Some groups have several dozen subnets in them, so I run out of screen height to drag the subnet into the group above. The issue is…
  • This has been one of the top requests for MapMaker functionality. Sadly this is no possible today.
  • Solarwinds Engineers Toolset has DHCP scope monitoring. If it could be autopublished to a web page, it could be dynamically linked into Orion. Currently the best it can do is publish DHCP scopes in use to a web page manually.
  •  Hey John, I posted something similar a while ago. I also use a Custom Property called "Comments" for the OPS folks to use for ticketing info etc. As for the Pandora's box, I got around this by using the "Allow Event Clearing" property of the users account to allow them to add comments & custom Properties. Have a look at…
