How much space should I give for the tempdb and transaction logs each? we doubt we'll grow beyond 300GB database size.
-
Where can you acknowledge alerts? My goal is to make it easy to acknowledge alerts so I stop getting emails on my phone. If I could do this via email or the mobile page that'd be great. Otherwise I find computer and vpn in and acknowledge somewhere.
-
I can't find that list in the admin guide you're talking about. Do you know the page?

Hi everyone, I got a response from support and via Experts-Exchange.com that has worked pretty well. See response below: www.experts-exchange.com/.../Q_26684240.html I'm out on vacation until the new year but when I get back I'll find our advanced sql report and paste the query I'm using.
-
Yeah we noticed the password thing too. I stopped sending it because everyone who needs to review the reports has a login and their browser remembers the username/pwd.
-
did you solve this?
-
njoylif and mcgridea, are you suggesting that's the only thing to concern myself with? Do you have any reasons to suggest 2 RAID1 sets vs 1 RAID10 set for the 300GB drives?
-
I have explained that this does not fix the issue. I've done all the steps required and none of those errors apply to me. I don't understand how to apply the statistic part. Can you look at my query above and help determine where I should put that piece in? The same for the exit code? Thanks

I do have some SQL experience, but not a guru by any means. I was more hoping people knew which fields in which tables to update if I wanted to do this. But you're saying that even though now it appears this is controlled at the template level you can still override that at the individual monitor level? I assume I also…

Thanks. Yeah looks like the framework is in place, but it doesn't have it there yet for device pollers. And thickness too since it's probably just a style..
-
Hi. Were you ever able to use that SQL query in an alert and were you able to find out the previous or cooked values? Thanks!
-
Thanks Byron. But do you know if SW plans on fixing this anytime soon? I don't want to do a bunch of leg work only to find it obsolete in an upcoming release.
-
did you find a fix for it? we're seeing the same thing.
-
just did some further research and rpc seems to see the exact same details as SNMP but can accurately measure how much virtual memory the process is responsible for. since WMI can't be measured across external firewall NAT rules, but RPC can, I'm not sure what the benefit of using WMI is.
-
Thanks QUestionario for the reminder. I had forgotten about that. Frustrating.

we're using APM to monitor the "System Up Time" counter under the System category. That matches what's shown in the SystemInfo command prompt info. Then we set up the alerts to only using the default node reboot alert with vendor is not windows and set up a new alert that if vendor is windows and System Up Time is less…

did you ever figure this out? We have 6 foundry switches each with the same snmp string and setting and yet one of our switches is not being detected beyond up/down. ORION doesn't know it's a foundry/brocade switch, nor that there are any interfaces. oddly on one of our other switches it detects everything about the switch…

Where do I then view those "views"?
-
Thanks Jeff. Those helped. I guess I hoped there would be some sort of collection from Solarwinds. But this will do for now. Thanks!
-
I'm ok with not being able to detect historical information. All I need to monitor is the following: 1. Are there currently 12 instances running. if not I need an alert 2. Are any of the 12 using over XXX amount of Memory or above YYY CPU utilization 3. If possible, are any of them restarting (different PID than before).…

Thanks. I've started doing this now. What specifically do I look to trigger for so that I get alerted when someone connects something (or turns a down device back on)? And do devices turned off (or rebooted) go to "unplugged" state temporarily?
-
thanks. we do have a call regarding separate issue scheduled for tomorrow. in any case we resolved it by removing the template from the two nodes and re-applying them. this seemed to rebuild their table of info.
-
I just opened a thread on why to separate the two environments. maybe we can take this there for organization purposes? So you're saying a RAID 10 set can handle the IO of the tempdb, tlogs, and db?
-
thanks
-
where do we track that and see updates?
-
Does that work in Windows? I have never used perl in Windows or linux. The command line filter is for windows processes unfortunately.
-
If this can't be done soon, can the following: If someone types in a start and end date and presses enter it filters for that range even if they forgot to drop the menu down to custom. web 2.0 feel on all charts especially when you click one on a details view and it opens up a window just for that chart.
-
I must not have set something up correctly. Nothing shows up in the list when I add NPM Topology Resource. Can you point me to an article/post explaining how to get that working?
-
Thanks. So you can see how it's hard to tell what the average statistic was over the period of time right?
-
I have only seen these services crashing when using Orion. I think it's a load issue. In any case, can someone please list the services that required on a Windows server?
