I couldn't agree more. I've posted about this previously, I've sent feedback to the sale staff I hear from, and even got some assurances that they would be looking to restructure. That was about two years ago. Fast forward to 2013: I hear from two different sales staff members about NTM, offering two different discount…

I think a large key to answering your question would be what kind/how many drives you have on each server. You didn't mention NTA, but if you plan on getting that at any point, having the proper RAID setup (RAID 1+0 being the best) makes a huge difference. If both have enough drives, I'd let the newer server be the SQL…

I have noticed a similar thing happen with our 3Com Switches - every now and then, the device type view sets them back to Wireless Autonomous AP. In fact, I checked now and it happened again - it seems to happen once every 3-4 weeks. I haven't thought much of it because I assumed someone else was changing it, but given…

I believe I had that exactly problem on a poller that was overloaded - it was queuing up the polling data and was writing data to the SQL server slower than it was being queued…

But if you had some number of devices, say 20, that are the flapping hosts you could create a custom property and fill it with a value to indicate flapping and leave it blank for the rest. In your alerts setup, you could then include consideration for…

It is my understanding that dependencies were only built into 10. Given the work that had to have gone into 10 to make dependencies work, I wouldn't expect that feature to by added to 9.5.

I would also like to see this implemented. There have been a couple of times where I've needed to do this and had to delete the original device, then re-add it as an ICMP device.

If you are looking for the native, out of the box cpu and memory graphing that Orion gets with Cisco equipment, then you won't find that for mikrotik routers. However, if you're not familiar with Universal Device Pollers (UnDPs), as long as their equipment makes the values/information you are seeking available via SNMP,…
