  • My apologies Martyn, but because of the way Kiwi Syslog Server's evaluation system works, you won't be able to run separate evaluations one after the other indefinately. All I can suggest is that you try the evaluation on another machine (or VM). Kind Regards,
  • Hi d-moore, You shouldn't need to do anything special, just run the 9.1 installer and the upgrade will happen automatically. Tech support not generating correctly is a known issue with 9.1 (and 9.0 actually). We hope to have this fixed in a forthcoming version. Kind Regards,
  • In short, yes, UDP is the supported method of transfer. Kiwi Syslog will support other protocols, like TCP, but UDP 514 is the default. For specifics on configuring your switch for logging, I'd recommend you consult your Switch Configuration Guide.…
  • Hi patwill66, You may need to check that you have a "Log to Web Access" rule or action defined in your Kiwi Syslog Server setup. The Kiwi Syslog Server installer has an option that should create this rule automatically, but if not, you may need to create one manually, as follows: Rule "Log to Web Access" Filter <filter…

  • Hi Kurt, Have you tried re-installing Kiwi Syslog Server 8.3.52? It sounds like one or more components failed to register correctly during install, in particular actskn43.ocx. You could also try manually registering that component: regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\actskn43.ocx You should also make sure that there isn't a…
  • Hi Imran, To preserve the Kiwi Syslog Server configuration (settings) when migrating from one machine to another: 1. Export settings on source machine (File Menu > Export Settings to INI file) 2. Import settings on destination machine (File Menu > Import Settings from INI file) To migrate Web Access: Copy event database…
  • Interesting... are you in PST time zone by chance?
  • Shouldn't be a problem. You may want to check permissions on the NAS? By default, the Kiwi Syslog Service runs under the .\LocalSystem account context.
  • Hi Dan, I'm not sure how the Event database has become corrupted, but you should be able to 'reset' it by replacing the Event.sdf file with Event-blank.sdf. Procedure for doing so is as follows: 1) Stop the Kiwi Syslog Server (Service) 2) Close the Kiwi Syslog Manager 3) Stop the UltiDev Cassini Web Server (Service) 4)…
  • Hi geodash74, Can you raise a support ticket? Thanks. Kind Regards,
  • Yep, just run the respective setups. Upgrade will happen automatically. Kind Regards,
  • Short answer is yes, you should log to file, and only log to DB what you really need long-term. That said, Kiwi Syslog Server also provides scheduled archive functionality, so that log files (on disk) are current, and log files that are too large, too old, etc. are archived (ie. compressed and stored elsewhere). Check out…
