Denny, One reason to go from SNMP to ICMP is if the machine has multiple nics and IP's. We have a few ESX servers with multiple nics. 1 being the main nic and the other is an ILO (Integrated Lights Out) nic. They were initially added with SNMP on both. I would like to be able to do ICMP on the ILO ones only. If we are…

That did the trick. Thanks.

I was having a similar situation with NP on Windows 2003 VM. Nodes would change to down and the server could not ping them. From my own computer I was able to ping them fine. I talked with the VM Admin and he had my system in a test environment. I had him move it to a production environment and everything calmed down. I…

If they have a custom screen that they cannot edit due to rights or whatever, you can go into Admin - Manage Views and select the appropriate view to edit. Once in there you can do a preview and then you can edit the map to a different size. This will be saved for all users that have that screen.

Was there ever a solution to the file exists issue? I just started receiving it today and was looking around before opening a ticket.

Case number 74158 has been submitted. Wayne

I think what they were meaning by "these backups" was battery backups.

Have done this. Thanks for the reminder.

Not a good answer but I guess the best that I'm going to get....

netmonguy, Yes, it is possible. You can use the location field of the node (or create a custom field) to enter dca, lax and dfw. Then you can group on the web page by that field. That is how I have mine grouped. It won't automatically divide those out by node name. An easy way to enter the field is under Node Management…

I have verified and am using a local Admin account for this and verified it is also an admin within NCM. By the looks of the error, it doesn't seem to me to be a credentials issue.
-
Ok. Here is what they have said. Just use IE6 and wait for the next release for the others....
-
The error is not consistent. If you click around a bunch and try, sometimes it will work sometimes it won't but I have to be on my server to do it. Everytime I try from my computer it won't. I have downloaded Firefox and it works everytime from my computer. I think they should extend the 25% off sale past Monday if we are…

That did it for me. I was able to upgrade to 9.5. Now to just get used to the little format changes that are on the web page. Thanks for the help.

Ok. Here's an update from my observations. IE6 works fine with updating every 2 minutes. IE 8 updates every 30 minutes or so. FF8 updates every 30 min or so as well. I had installed Hot Fix 2 already. Support requested diagnostics which I have sent in.

Cancelling out and retrying doesn't do anything except give the error again. I have cleared the cache and tried, same results. My settings are already set tof automatically check for newer files when going to a web page. I don't have Firefox, just IE. I will try to install Firefox and test. KCWayner

My upgrade was pretty painless. I upgraded to NPM10.0 and then turned around and upgraded NCM to 6.0. Once I got NCM in the website didn't work but running the configuration wizard again got me straightened out.
-
That is so cool and easy. Awsome addition!
-
I am using the Administrator account and password. I have verified them logging directly into the NCM website.

Here is a peek at our page for grouping.

That did the trick. Thanks for the quick response. I hadn't expanded that part of the settings before.

Something for network load balancing would be nice as well.

I opened a case thru the portal. No response just yet. Case #286480 - "Screen not refreshing"
-
Thanks for the info. I watch the IE and saw that it was supposedly refreshed once but the time didn't change and it didn't show the new events from the other servers. After that it didn't look like it refreshed.
-
I should also state that I have this entered as 3 different nodes. It has 2 WAN links to it over a serial connection and 1 ethernet connection to the LAN. The ethernet side is getting 0 misses but both serial node detail pages give a -2.
-
Thanks for that. I have it changed on mine now.

We have both NPM, NCM, and IPAM all running on 1 virtual server with a separate physical box for SQL. System is running fine. Every now and then it seemed to have issues and they said we were low on the server specs but the sp's seem to have calmed all of that down.

I have created my own groups as far as locations and have these as the default way my web page looks. Once you have that field created and populated you can edit the window it is shown in to sort by the groups and sub groups if you want. Edit "All Nodes " Edit "All Nodes "Title: Subtitle: Leave the subtitle field blank to…

I saw that as well and told it to dismiss since I was current on my software.
