It is not just IVR's as those have been in place for quite a while and you could program them with COTS software. Downside was the voice cards were expensive back in the 90's. Nowadays it is the little chatbot's that pop up on many webpages for "online help" that do the initial "triage" before sending you off to an actual…

I feel l limited with my 2 21" monitors at the office.
-
as mentioned one of the biggest challenges is attempting to monitor things you can't see or touch like you can with on site tools and applications.

How about the ability to "disable" individual alert actions in the web based alerting environment instead of deleting them ? It would also be nice with the agents to run scripts on a node without having to download source to run every time...actually that should be an option within the current SAM environment. It is…

All these tons of data is great but hampers the performance of the database. Need to port off the older data (detail) into a data warehouse for offline reporting and trending.

HIPAA is a burner if you fail an audit and has no place in the cloud in my opinion...

The rebranding/remarketing of existing technology fuels the hype train. What was old is new again.

Could it be a hashed array of geeks ?

I like peer review..but it does have overhead. I know for a fact it reduces issues during implementation...but the overhead factor in a busy shop can slow productivity.

don't forget alerting and forecasting

still scarred by the 80's era raised floor cabling mayhem... Got a lot of overtime in my operator days untangling huge spaghetti piles of bus and tag cables after we moved the data center to a new building. But I wouldn't trade those days.

One of the best ways for me to unplug is to hop onto the motorcycle, crank up some music and hit the highway or some twisty backroads for a few hours.

"These technologies have recently become vogue " And Federal Networking has jumped on the Hype Train too... I see the biggest challenge is "clean data". With so many data sources over the decades there is no way to normalize it. Thus it will be an ever increasing mountain to scale. The next question is how do you define…

In a past lifetime out data center phone number was 1 digit off from the city water department. Being on second or third shift we invariably took calls for water leaks, why is our water off, irate customers demanding there water be turned on, send a truck out to ..., etc. One night this one person kept calling back…

Wow, Tanium using non masked customer data for demo's......<loss of words happened here>

The phishing of the nuclear power stations and attempts at hacking the critical infrastructure is not unexpected these days.. These two postings align with a book I am reading called Cyberstorm. It makes you think about what could truly happen if such an attack did succeed....

sorry..I meant jim-bob

Not all new smoke detectors have all those features. A lot of the linking with smoke detectors is via wire...this can be good and bad. Linking has its opportunities...depending on what 1 or more detect can set them all off. Challenge then becomes where did the original alarm originate ? I can see sending alerts out from…

multi cloud ~~ clustered cloud ? Hmmmm...... Usually only Dez gets that. For next month it sounds like you are speaking of a datacenter in a box..or appliance.

If I am bringing wisdom, we are all in trouble

Keep the comments coming and help me to get the bumped up the food chain as this is one of the weak links in the product.
