I know what you mean ecklerwr1....could be, But since we didn't create it we may never know.

That is what my role here is....

maybe we should boycott Microsoft and they might not make IoT worse by infecting everything else with it and then we can help to reduce the data breaches...all with enjoying the cookies their website is using to enhance our experience....

The appstack at first glance appears to be good. I haven't had the time to figure out how to properly utilize it on a multi-tenant server cluster to tie into which instance of a multi-instance process goes to which actual application with the rest of the application spread across other servers both windows and unix. I have…

Interesting article...in many ways what was old is new again. Back in 1984 when I started my career in IT I was an operator. We wrote code, granted in interpreted languages, to do the daily mundane tasks. We worked with the system programmers and the application developers. That became the days of automated operations...…

What feature request are you looking for to be added? We could really use a description to work with here so that we and Solarwinds has a better idea of what you want.

Please excuse the horrible picture...lighting totally sucked in there. Having to shoot from one end with a wide angle lens and shallow Depth of Field and a very high ISO doesn't help.

I also learned basic on a trash 80 model 1 with the cassette...I think it was about 60 baud

Agreed in principle. Being the different divisions of the Government have very different environments similar to the many varied environments in non-government businesses, there will be the one-size does not fit all issue. Products that work well for one department/functional area may or will not work well for others. Thus…

One item for the physical lab that was missed and depending on the size of your lab can be quite noticeable is the requirement for additional cooling and another bump on the additional power requirements. It can easily raise the temperature of a room or basement by 10-15 degrees and most home environmental systems are not…

this is so true...just think of the trend in home automation. Door locks, heating and AC control, and more. A proper hack can open the front door (pun intended) to who knows what....you come home to a locked house...only the physical key works, environmentals have been set to Texas heatwave in the middle of winter, lights…

I agree with all the previous posts. Continuous improvement has been around for literally decades.... It's funny that many of the current buzzwords are re-hashed or re-branded or re-used phrases from the past...just being used in different combinations. Then the new combination is used to sell a new approach.

Good one today. Between the pain meds ,muscle relaxers, and still below my minimum daily caffeine requirements it took me a some time to figure it out. The devils in the details.
-
nifty. I was also curious, is this what promoted this idea to implemented or did I totally lose track of it over time?

Even though we are empty nesters, my wife bought a couple of small bags of candy just in case...of course she got the good stuff so it won't go to waste. 0 trick or treaters...the joys of living in rural Texas where the kids all go into the small nearby town where the pickings are better and the local constabulary has to…

I think it is more of an opinion type of question....

yeah maybe...maybe not. Jaywalking is hazardous regardless of whom is behind the wheel.

It also gets to be interesting when multiple departments have obtained different software titles to do the same thing. They have different requirements and in time tend to cause issues because nobody is following the same set of standards...
-
I would think there is a 4th bucket...somewhere in there you have to do the actual provisioning based on your planning in order to have something to optimize and then maintain.

Not a problem, I enjoy being able to share my other life when I can. There are points in time when the geek factor spans both worlds...The fire service is a bit higher tech than some people realize. UAVs (Drones) are really helping us on grass fires and even structure fires at night when command can't see the entire thing.

Hmmm, so they allowed nulls in the database. What could go wrong?

Nice write-up plus I agree with pseudocyber and his assessment.
