Hmm...we can now print pizza and livers...now we just need to be able to print bacon and replicate beer.

I need to look into at least the first one or two in the list above...

I let the lan/wan folks deal with that..

Just wait until alexa appears on your network....

Before I look at anything else here...crashing ThwackCamp for the selfie with Rob Boss was Greatness !

The previous comments are spot on...also, just because you pay a "ransom" once doesn't mean you won't have to pay it again.....

Good info for those of us that don't work with the product.

a regular review of the monitoring requirements of our internal customers. One to be sure nothing has fallen out or through the cracks. To allow for adjustments or even decommission of items that no longer need to be monitored. To identify things that may need to be added. To make sure expectations are being met and to…

Apples cable/dongle issue is about marketing and residuals. It forces the consumer to return to replace old broken interface cables/stuff and through planned obsolescence purchase more product. Without that, a single purchase every few years is all they would get. If you can get the consumer to constantly comeback for a…

datachick, much of the silo'd issues you wrote about exist because of separation of duties. In many cases it goes beyond protecting a resource from other people/teams from altering it to preventing other people/teams from having visibility into it. Since many things today are vastly complicated with so many options that…

Yes...networking and collaboration not only with peers at other companies but with perspective that you can't get via mediums such as Thwack. Then there is the vendor relationship. You have access to developers and product managers where you can sit down face to face and address concerns or ideas. Panel type sessions where…

I agree that the at the Federal level, they have pretty much the same challenges as we do. In some cases especially in the realm of security, they may have a tougher job due to the higher number of potential attackers. Website availability is the same issue as we have. It is monitored in the same way.

This is pretty much spot on...

I had a coworker in a past life that was all about seeing how many certifications she could get so that she list them on her business card and add to her sig file in email. When your sig line is bigger than most of your email content you might have a problem..

I claim first on that yesterday !!

It can take years from some companies to make the transition to stage 5. Usually stage 1 is an over zealous manager or tech who thinks you need to monitor everything.

Ransomware is so sketchy...even if someone pays what to say the other guy doesn't turn it back on in say 6 months to get more money out of you ? Then you get into the pay to be "kept safe" or other permutations. For Joe public who doesn't know any better, they could be out a chunk of money unless they are willing to start…

Good points... Dynamic baselines...great in theory but if the baseline creeps up slowly over time, where is the hard stop we have a problem as you may not have a sudden spike. Capacity planning "should" cover this...but as the normal dynamically changes over time there may be no sudden deviation....it is still within…

Just be careful which firehose they pick up...

Excellent !!

Like I said before...it is a starting place..a launching pad. Yes it gets a lot of data up front, but I won't rely on it. I wonder if they get kickbacks for sales generated through their quadrants ?

I am also not attending any this year...

Optical data transfer surface..Hmmm...brings a new meaning to the term "flash drive".
