Yes it is better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.

Okay, that made better sense. I had waited to see if a better hint was going to be made available.

I agree with what sevier.toby and Radioteacher are saying. On the other hand, since we now have an international presence in Europe with branches in several different European countries the tables are turned quite a bit regarding privacy. Each country is somewhat different. In some we cannot tie network traffic to what…

Thats one of the key points. When you roll up to hourly you lose ALL the detail and are stuck with an average that gives you no clue what was going on or if you had a significant peak. Your graphs then flatten out too much.

Coolness. I had a college roommate with this arcade console (space invaders)....

Back in town Monday morning Bump ! #bumpsquad

it would help if Atlas wasn't so dang slow and any changes to the environment require constant updating sometimes causing a major re-work.

in a past lifetime we used KIWI...here and now it is via the SIEM tool.

Congrats to rharland2012 !

test the pizza delivery to your remote site so you have disaster food available.

Very good !

It's actually more than systems management...that was so 20 years ago. It is enterprise management as we cover the entire gamut these days.

Bumping it on Humpday !! #bumpsquad

Wow adatole ! Racking up some serious miles there. While I have never been to "East" Germany or even Berlin,

In our case the only admin that would be removing the file would be one of the solarwinds admins at the end of a maint cycle as a checkbox in the change ticket. Of course it could be scripted too... There is no reason you can't use the same CSS and Logos of the site since it is in the support of that product. At any rate,…

for educational and evaluation purposes...maybe. For those that would learn how it works in order to provide ways to help their business thwart those thieves. Based on articles I have seen in the past year or so and the number of skimmers being found I tend to look more closely at these. Because of that I try and use…

Excellent stuff here. I use the 80/20 rule with regards to monitoring and alerting on a regular basis. It helps to keep things simplified and scalable. SLA's are so important between what the business expects and what the infrastructure side delivers and how the NOC or Help Desk interprets events.

Isn't this part of what ITIL was supposed to address?

Back to work and back at it bump !

While more of a POC, sequencing malware into DNA brings a whole new meaning to the term virus.

Agreed... @jm_sysadmin, essentially an SOP blessed by the upper management of both the business side and the IT side since once you start going down this path both sides have to be aware and involved.

Agreed the "uptime of the SNMP agent" is not the best solution. There are several possible workarounds...until such time as this gets updated. 1) Check a different OID via an SNMP poller. 2) for windows a powershell script that checks to see how long the system has been up. 3) For unix a shell script that returns the…

The subscription model for many is great because it is just a low monthly fee so it doesn't look like much. Meaning who can't afford $10-20 a month for a streaming service or $15 a year for an ad free app on their phone. Yes much of what the OP mentioned is purely marketing and trying to retain the residuals while keeping…

Works out great... super tool for brainstorming, working out process flows, project lists, solarwinds posters... I'll post a photo shortly. I am not sure if my wideangle lens is wide enough.

Dang...I want to have to find a way to mount that flashlight to my helmet.

Hump day bump ! #bumpsquad

I don't even use the "hey google" feature on my phone or siri on my ipad. Alexa and her inlaws or outlaws depending on how you view them are not allowed in the house. Having worked with digital modes in ham radio, it is easy to observe that a computer can pick out information from what sounds like white noise or static. It…

I think it is great that Orion has gone full circle and embraces agents although the agentless they built their base on still required an agent. The modern agents provide so much more in capability... One thing not mentioned was store and forward. With the real agent it would store polled metrics/events in the event of a…
