The most memorable use of WPM for me was with a retail company. We monitored their webshop prior to a presales gig with them. There was an “unusual” spike in the WPM charts when I presented it. I thought about an error on my Orion demo instance but they were actually quite concerned when I was about to check what was…

I think most of it is already possible. I will dig out my samples and share them

I answered it by also looking at the SAM summary page and expanding the corresponding SAM Templates... Like yourself I wasn’t too sure about it. also check which status is explicitly asked for in the question. You should get it right then.

for those who like pictures. there should be some form of "muting" in this tool Otherwise bring the Scheduling tool into the web-funcionality

I guess your requirement to do it manually afterwards is the big hindrance. automated actions when the alert arises shouldn't be the problem, right?

To be honest, we are not using many "offers" from our software vendors. Mostly the support hortline when something is going wrong, or the "update/upgrade consulting services" when you are too busy or too lazy or too concerned to update a software on your own. It might be due to the fact that we are a very small company and…

We use Symlinks to prepare our system prior to installing the Orion Platform. We redirect not only the Solarwinds logs folder but also others like IIS. I agree that this should be possible in the GUI, but you have a solid easy workaround with symlinks.

many times enabling WinRM is just a big pain...from my experience it works only 50% of the time...

did you check that those VMs are on Azure... some are on AWS (that might be the trick here) --- edit--- didn't see that this was already answered...

Aren't we all just "jack of all trades"

what exactly do you need, I do have a customer with extensive citrix monitoring. We have some custom scripts and tools in place that I might be able to share.

For many organizations it seems to be an easy way of saying "Data Protection is handled by my Cloud contractor. Many miss the point that it is still their responsibility to document/define/... many things themselves. Let's see where this trend will lead us. Maybe we will be seeing a trend to shift back to "on prem" in 7-10…

You need to prepare for Christmas already. Don’t you have all presents ready yet?

this is quite a lot to read, and as a non native speaker I need to read it multiple times to get the whole Idea, bus as I have done this there are 2 things I'd like to comment on/add to the conversation: * "brand loyalty hardly exists anymore" I wouldn't strongly agree with that, there are still many hardcore "one Brand…

Recycling Electronics is pretty big here in Germany. There are numerous companies and state/city-owned places where you can recycle any form of small and large electronic devices. Harddisks that might contain sensitive Data needs to be recycled separately by a company certified in „Data destruction„

we mostly monitor with custom Powershell Scripts. for Login Performance/Functionality we use the ControlUp Tool that is triggered from Solarwinds in combination with windows Event logs.

I only push „Groups” that represent locations to the World Map. If you like some input, send me a personal message and we will check the possibilities.

But what about the people who upload cat videos and pictures to the internet? They are making the world a little bit more happy, don’t they? Those people can be trusted #catcontent

I usually tell my peers that seek for help that I am not any smarter than they am, I don't know all the answers and I don't have an endless pool of wisdom in my brain. I try to teach them the skill set of analyzing the problem, breaking it down to smaller questions and then solving them one by one. This somehow goes along…

Totally Agree, this seems to be a noBrainer

To reach the required 6dB level I usually turn off all alerts to begin with. Once I baseline the Infrastructure with the customer (yes this takes a loooooot of time) we start with some basic alerts, e.g. „Node Down“ and „Disk Full“. from there I ask the different teams for “actionable alerts”. As solarwinds evangelists…

I guess in smaller Networks you can get "real SDN" implemented quicker than in large scale networks. As you can replace the "old Hardware" quicker. I know you can't quite compare it but I was switching to Unifi/Ubiquiti Networks for a few of my clients. Works like a charm, even have it in my home-network in small scale. It…

First of all, are the nodes really rebooted? If yes then this is per se a correct Info you are receiving. If you don't want to be alerted when a Node reboots, go to the alerts page, manage alerts and switch off the Alert for "node rebooted". If you only want to be alerted when certain Nodes are rebooted think about…

Yes, I am fully aware of this. I was pointing out that there is a tool that COULD possibly do the job, but it lacks the Option to MUTE. My post is NOT a solution to your FR, just a visualization for those who like pictures

Good catch! I love the thought of managing dynamic custom Properties with alerts. I first heard about this in the advanced alerting class that is available in the Solarwinds Portal.
