The main are for improvement in the Alerting setup is the idea of having a hierarchy or dependent nodes from a monitoring location. If a site router with 20 monitored nodes in it goes down, I don't want alerts for all 20 modes, Just one alert would do fine. Also there are some issues we are seeing about escalation, if I set…

The biggest caveat to the 4700 is that both controllers have to be offline to do the update. Granted, this issue is supposedly fixed in firmware version 7, you're upgrading from version 6 so that doesn't help. To upgrade the 4700 you will have to plan on scheduled downtime and I would estimate 30 minutes to an hour of…

In addition to good advice already provide, I add this: Most probable root causes of packet loss include the usual suspects: (1) circuit noise (2) insufficient bandwidth (3) faulty network hardware (4) insufficient network hardware (e.g., CPU, memory) (5) suboptimal network hardware configuration (6) aggressive bandwidth…

I asked a while back. Not sure what thread I posted to though. Could you send me the info please? Thanks.

Any one had/resolved this issue after the upgrade? Are you using Passthrough Authentication (authenticating using Windows rather than just Orion)? There is some kind of bug preventing passthrough authentication from working, is what I was told. Yes, we're working on a fix for the passthrough problem.

We're aware of this issue, and it will be addressed in v2.0.

I just tried it again myself on a node details view, and it works. Add Custom HTML resource to node details view Add "NodeName = ${NodeName}" to the resource. What did you try and we'll see what we get.

The change you're looking for was probably not going to make the next release. The fact that this work is now attached to Kiwi integration, which is important (and which comes with actual Kiwis to do said integration) actually means you'll get it sooner.

Hi I would also like to be included in the process as I have a need for this requirement. I have tried to use Network Sonar discovery and tried to run the Serach for end host feature in NCM. One thing is not very clear, this report states its a NCM feature but there is alot of talk that you Need Sonar discovery enabled as…

Got it. Thanks Mark!!! Ron

I really appreciate your post. I will let you know. So I need to install Outlook on the server... I was hoping to avoid this but will do it so I can test. A few mroe questions: 1) Were you able to get your response time down to under 16 seconds? 2) Have you tried multiple accounts? 3) Have you tried an account with…

RC will be available in your Customer Portal. We will send out an email when it's available.

I'm with you on the ESX thing. It's very frustrating to us. I can't provide dates, but it's not terribly far in the future.

Yeah, I see that, just as it was in the other thread... This is the URL I am using: https://asbwdnmsswapp01.vlab.corp.tnsi.com:17778/SolarWinds/InformationService/v3/Json/Invoke/Orion.Reporting/ExecuteSQL This is the Insert I am sending: Insert into NodesCustomProperties (NodeID) VALUES (13) This is the response I get:…

I'm a bit new to this API, so I'm a bit fuzzy on this... So I need more insight. It's now producing this error: {"Message":"Verb Orion.Reporting.ExecuteSQL requires at least 1 parameters not…

Installed SP4 today and updating custom properties cannot be done easily on multiple devices. SP4 didn't change anything about custom properties, but you have always been able to select multiple nodes and then change one or more custom properties across all those nodes in one action. Is that not working for you? I updated…

The link above wasn't working. It's available directly via an FTP link -- . In general, I advise everyone to subscribe to posts on the Announcements forum. Only SW can post there, and we don't post often. It's the first place we notify customers of a service pack or new release. And it's also already in your customer…

We're fixing that in an upcoming SP.

Some news about this bug resolution? We are waiting before installing NF3

Joe, Orion 9 has a ton of new functionality, but that particular feature did not make the cut. We're always forced to make difficult choices, and if we had done the feature you're looking for , other customers would have been unhappy with that choice because the feature that's most important to them would have been cut. We…

Is there any improvements due for the Alerting Engine in version 9.0 ? What are you looking for?
-
Thank Mark, not me. He's looking out for the Thwack folks and bird-dogging their cases through the system.

Animelov, I don't really think it's an issue. I just think that the performance metrics aren't introduced until firmware 7.x or something. I have a DS4700 on 6.60.02.00 and a DS3400 on 7.35.41.00. The perf stats are available on the 3400 for entities all the way down to the disk level however on the 4700 there are only…

Working for me as well on the SSID's. Bshopp - mind emailing me that DLL zipped?

It's on the roadmap for after v2.

I'm monitoring netlogon service and TCP port 3268 on all our DC. Some DC randomly report Connection Timeout for the netlogon service while the TCP port is always up and the server is working correctly (also the wbemtest utility works). This especially happens for high ping servers (between 100 and 1000 ms). Seems like the…

Hey carlton.patterson@matthey.com, Make sure you mark the correct/helpful answers so that this thread might be useful for other users as well. Glad to see you managed to sort this out.

Yes - get on the command line and telnet to the Orion server, putting the port number at the end of the command. If you already know there is a FW between the node (switch) and the Orion server you probably have your answer already. Have your FW person check the deny log to verify.

You mean clicking on a link and going to that filtered subset of Syslog? That fix did make it into SP1.

Most of the feedback on 9.1 has been quite positive. On every release, some people hit issues or changes that impact them negatively. Forum posts tend to be biased toward the negative because folks with issues are more likely to post looking for help. We have an idea of how many people have downloaded and how many issues…
