The problem is that they're getting polled before you have time to unmanage them. You could possibly run a query and update their status in the database. Denny LeCompte Sr. Product Manager, Orion SolarWinds

i asked for this years ago and no joy. what i had to do instead, is have a custom prop that says "alert on reboot". this is defined as TRUE in the alert trigger. there is a sql job that runs and sets it to false at defined time, and sets back to true after the window at least i think thats what we did, and it should stop…

sure you can. go into map maker and go crazy. Make a site map then make a bunch of smaller maps under it that have different services and such. Figure out how you want the big ones (managment) to see the network and give it to them in bite size segments. As far as passwords that is up to you also. Just give them the link…

SAM will do that. once you get SAM installed you can set a file size monitor to track the size and also alert if you want to.

ONPM is not ready for prime time on 2003 Server. There's a problem with SNMP API and shows all interfaces as down.

Ping can't be turned off. Deriving status by SNMP is on the roadmap.

We are in the process of upgrading from Orion 8.5.1 to Orion 9 and currently have Orion on the same server as SQL. I asked senior Solarwinds support for guidance before we upgrade so as to not make any costly mistakes. I was going down the path of using our SQL Enterprise server attached to a SAN (configured with their…

So, let me see if I got this straight - the "WarningMessage" field (probably of a ServiceWarning) alert contains a bunch of stuff, including a string that you are interested in, and you want to extract JUST the part you're interested in to put in an email? If so, unfortunately not. What we could look at doing is updating…

Yes, you can collect all of that with Orion APM.

Thanks for the info, this is helpful. I think we will go with virtual application server and database on one of the sql clusters.

maybe i missed the boat here but doesnt the new Message Center view give him exacly what he wants? I mean you can have it give you all the events/traps/syslog all on one page now.

looks like an error on the website so should be able to fix it if you run the configuration wizard and select repair

Another odd thing to note that I noticed last night was that all SAM monitors between the hours or 2:00 AM EST and 10:00 AM EST we are all functioning as you would expect. Not sure what this means, but seems very odd.

There is no explicit limit on the amount of syslog/SNMP trap volume per hour with LEM. Without any correlation rules and only storing in the raw log store, we're talking tens of thousands per second. With correlation rules and using connectors to parse the data, we're still talking hundreds on the low end to thousands per…

I missed this last week. Thanks again for the feedback, Chris. We were trying to keep it simple after walking through the installation with a few people who got a little lost, but I understand your situation. A compromise might be a checkbox to use defaults vs. specifying a location on the first page. For licensed…

Relatively speaking, events don't take that much database space.

Bryan, Have you opened a ticket with Support?
-
Love what you have done. Can you provide more details so I can try to duplicate on my end.
-
I too am seeing this issue on several Orions that have been upgraded.....
-
No, that should work - its a security group that's required. Here is a document on using AD authentication in Orion and there'a a troubleshooting section at the back: http://www.solarwinds.com/support/orion/docs/UnderstandingOrionADAuthentication.pdf

It's not possible today, but I've taken it as a feature request.

I'm on version 12.1 and I can see something that looks interesting in Setup > Tickets > Options > Allow Non-User CC Updates (checkbox) The info balloon on it states: Allow Non-User CC Updates Indicates whether to allow Ticket updates, via email, from people who are not helpdesk users, but were CC or BCC recipients on the…

Last problem that I just noticed is the AJAX "All Nodes Tree" and the grouping. I didn't mind it that much when it started having you click for more than 100 nodes after expanding the AJAX tree, but now I noticed its limiting the top level display to 100 nodes. This is a bad thing, our top level is showing all the sites…

I have been using NPM for some time now and about 2 revisions ago (upgrade from NPM 9.1 to 9.5 timeframe) I experienced this same issue with the basic alerts. I never did find an answer to why the basic alerts fail, but my workaround may help. Under active alerts in NPM, I removed all the basic alerts and configured ALL of…

This can be systemic of agents that are copies of each other - say if two systems were imaged with the same image, but the certificate stores weren't cleared first. When two identical certificate agents connect, the appliance assumes it was a missed disconnect and disconnects the old one. If it's actually two different…
