we are searching for some experience with upgrade from NCM 7.2.2 .... did anyone the upgrade? - What will happen with the single databases after merging to a single one?
-
I have been running it since RC without serious issues. As far as user experience.... MUCH better speed wise.

and it would be great if we could clear alerts from the web interface after we've ack'd them In the alerts view, you can hide acknowledged alerts. What do you mean when you say "Clear"? What else is missing?
-
That thread shows how to use a custom property to use as a filter (in this case we used CustomerName) for the view. Sledgehammer as the fly swatter. What I would like to see is this functionality pushed to the node/interface management level so that we can be more granular on alerts.

Here you go : Define a custom statistic to monitor
-
Quick way to do this is to integrate an html resource window into your Solarwinds view. Its not perfect but it works.

Hi ecklerwr1, This is a known issue and definitely not a problem with your profile or points. We are working with our platform vendor to resolve it as soon as possible. In the meantime, please accept our apologies for this mismatch. Kind regards, Maria

your trigger will only fire if ALL of the servers are down as you have it here. i think you may want to change it a bit to be like this... Trigger event when all of the following are true: field Node Status = down Trigger Alert when ANY of the following are true: Node_Name = AAA Node_Name = BBB try that and see if you have…

I found out today that Juniper uses custom MIBS and Solarwinds/Orion does not support anything that is not outside of the standard. They can add custom MIBS, but I am told by their support that it would be very hard to get Solarwinds to do that. My company has put in a completely new WAN/LAN using Juniper and now that…

I know there are some weird issues with getting the dashboards to show up sometimes due to cookie issues but in my new setup I went to Settings in NPM then virtualization settings and set it up there and I didn't have any major issues. Also make sure if you changed the port it uses put that port in the integration section,…

Thanks for the kind words. They are much appreciated. For the WMI issue, could you try one of the monitors that doesn't work and use the new "Performance Counter Monitor"? It polls the same monitors, but it uses RPC rather than WMI to get the counters. If that works, it might be informative.

Graeme, What you'll want to do is add the Map resource, then go back to your view. Click the Edit button on the resource and you'll be able to select which of your custom maps you want to display. Hope that helps. Thanks, Casey P.S. Congrats on your first post to thwack.

Just double checking, but what version of Orion are you running? In 9.0 and later, there no longer is a service that just handles polling devices for custom values. It was replaced in 9.0 and there are a couple different services that have replaced the functionality.

If I may throw my two cents in... I'm getting complaints from administrators about bogus CPU alerts. Here is my trigger condition. Here are the CPU levels for the same server in Solarwinds and vSphere. SOLARWINDS VSPHERE Solarwinds is spitting out alerts whereas vSphere is not. What's going on here?

So, I'm on 10.0.0, SP1 and planning to upgrade this weekend. If I read this correctly, this is the proper update sequence. 10.1 10.1.1 10.1.1 SP1 10.1.1 HotFix 1 Thanks for any guidance. Rick

I don't think you're missing anything. We may not have a connector built for that detailed source yet. This info sounds incredibly useful, though, and right up our alley to integrate. I'd start a support case to get it integrated and we'll prioritize it in scope with our other pending requests.

It seems there is a redundant row in the Volumes table for this node. If you are comfortable doing this in SQL (Full Backup of database is needed of course) then track down the NodeID of the server in the Nodes table. The open the Volumes table and check for the same NodeID. It will have the old label listed and you can…

All I can say is soon.

Make sure you have process auditing enabled if you want to look for these events - it's off by default in the windows security policy. There's also a builtin rule about monitoring for critical server processes, which uses a list you can add to as well. (Another common one would be to look for a process OTHER than a known…

Yes. A polling engine is essentially an SLX.

quote:Originally posted by aristox Hi, where can I download the mibs file "PredefinedCustomPollers.xml"? ARISTOX Although that file is mentioned in the documentation, it was pulled late in the process, as mentioned in the release notes. We may still ship a version of this file in the future, but the version we had…

We are planning to add an export function in the next release. Denny LeCompte Sr. Product Manager, Orion SolarWinds

You may want to look at your services and check for any dependencies between any solarwinds services and SQL services. If there are none, i would run the configuration tool again and make sure you are pointing to the remote SQL server
-
Good feature, and it's definitely on my roadmap.
-
Unfortuntely, this isn't possible at present - without some hacking. Even then it might make your Orion install unstable. I'd definitely suggest logging this as a Feature Request with Support as it's a really cool and useful idea! :-) Also its worth posting on this thread:
-
Which version are you on?

Thank you all for the responses. I guess I wasn't pointed to these videos when we purchased everything. So far its been trial and error, or calling into Tech Support. Thanks again! Shayne

There are some messages only logged at higher levels (max = 7) that CAN be useful, so based on experience with a lot of customers that's where the initial recommendation got set. Starting at one step down (6) will get you almost everything and I think if you back down from there, you'll get less and less. (Cisco ASA 5500…

This isn't a known bug. Packet loss is calculated via ping, which is blind to device type. Do you get the same data when you look via your VMware tools? Dev suggested that conflicting IPs might cause the problem.
