We have requests for Snap Manager and Snap Drive, but not Snap Mirror - do you know where it logs? The other two log to the Windows Event Log.

Orion can monitor AIX using SNMP agent.
-
That's fantastic. I'm reading some readme's on the NET-SNMP right now. I think this will be perfect for what I am doing. I will do some playing around and post how things work out. Thanks a bunch for your help. Aaron

Consider it on the radar.

Not sure why this is happening, but my first bit of advice is to upgrade to APM 2.0 SP2, if at all possible.

quote:I'm just curious how you can do this at all with NPM. Find the interface of choice, go to Interface Details, click the button on the right side for "Administratively Shutdown Interface". quote:You can always fire off NET-SNMP and do an SNMP-SET to bring interfaces up and/or down as an alert trigger. I had a very…

So, getting back into Solarwinds, I have found "Device Studio pollers". Is there any way to define interfaces and the statistics to monitor for each? This is basically what I am asking.

I hate Outlook. haha What about just using the Alert Actions to execute the script? I think that would work. The only thing is I don't know much about scripting. I dont suppose oyu have any good resources to read up on scripting for SNMP? Thanks again. Aaron

That can't be done. You have to re-write the alert in Advanced Alerts.
-
Good catch. Yes, you are correct. That installer will install APM, the additional poller, and the additional web server.
-
Try installing the Solarwinds agent on a server you want to connect to and then see if it appears in Solarwinds. If it doesn't appear try adding the node and select Agent.

Unfortunately, we haven't tested against Chrome or Windows 7. We will do some testing against Windows 7, but I doubt we'll test against Chrome unless it gets significant market share. I think there's an IE plugin for Chrome, kind of like IEtab for Firefox.

I know some of our customers use Tripwire Enterprise across platforms, but it's a non-free solution. We do have customers on linux using Linux audit (auditd) to accomplish general system auditing. That's probably your best bet as a place to start, but we don't have any documentation on setting it up in house. Here's a…

Hey Craig, what do you see in the "LEM Internal Events" filter? Any errors or events related to the TMG connector? You might also check the agent's log (usually c:\windows\system32 (or syswow64 on 64-bit)\contegospop\spoplog.txt or agent.log) to see if there's any exceptions or errors there. Usually it's some kind of…

actual module information might be kicked out by syslog but the main way that I can see catching this would be all the interfaces on the module going out at the same time. NPM would see all the interfaces down then you would have to make the correlation that they were all on the same blade. (this happened to us) If you…

We haven't removed any resources like that to my knowledge. There are a couple of custom property resources available in Manage Views section. Do none of them do what you need?

NetFlow Realtime should just show up on the menu. I just installed Toolset 9.1 on top of my 8.5, and this is the screenshot from my menu. If yours is not there, you might try reinstalling 9.1. But you most definitely do not need to have the NTA module installed. These tools are completely independent.

I use a Firefox plugin to cycle through open tabs in the browser. Just a guess, but it would need to be something like Java that could loop through your links and open them in the same window. Just like clicking link to link as you surf. Now that I think about it, you could use PHP. I did it that way with a system I wrote…

You're pretty close in the analogy of ESM to OpenView. ArcSight has become to many people the de-facto choice for SIEM in the enterprise. Express is the attempt to push that down-market, but that doesn't make it appropriate. Logger is more focused on the log management use cases, less on the SIEM side.

Awesome! Sure I read the readme for 10.2 but didn't see that, probably too happy to see Juniper support for CPU and Memory :) Shame we've a change freeze on until the end of February as I'd like to get this on asap. Thanks for confirming! Jase

If you have Orion, you could create a report to look at the least utilized network ports over the past X weeks. If 0 data has gone though them, that port probably isn't being used. Doug

Friends, I am also in the same situation. In my case, the issue is the interface for the following device is up. But somehow neighbor ship is not there. Is there any way to get alert for this issue ? We are using SNMP. We need to receive alert for below issue, because normall what is happening is, Services went down for…

If the test email message is working, we can rule some things out at least. First, make sure your user has a proper e-mail address - maybe something weird with the formatting? In rules, make sure the rule has your user selected and all the stuff filled out (template selected, fields filled out). Check for errors in the…

Check the interfaces and make sure the interfaces have the right version of SNMP assigned. If the device only talks SNMP v1 but it's assigned to SNMP v2, then you might see this problem. Some interfaces were incorrectly assigned during the 8.0 upgrade. Denny LeCompte Sr. Product Manager, Orion SolarWinds

Gennady, I had this issue last week and found that I was running an older version of Orion v.8. I upgraded to the 8.0.1 and the issue was resolved. I previously had 8.00 - December 2006 (System Manager 8.0.103). I upgraded to 8.0.1 - December 2006 (System Manager 8.0.113). I also received instructions from tech support…

Is there any chance of getting more graphics integrated into this. For example in NTA there are some nice pie charts that would look really neat filling up the 60" screens at my work. More Graphical presentations would be nice!

These should all doable, it's just a matter of finding the right events. * Event Log Cleared - I think this one comes in as ObjectDelete, there's an out of the box rule that might already find it. Otherwise, if you have a test system, an easy thing to do is to generate one and observe where it comes from in Monitor (or…

We do have an Exchange Event Log connector - try turning it on on your Exchange agent and see if it pulls in what you need. It's called "Microsoft Exchange Application Log" and it's in the category "Network Services" (or search for exchange).

As it is right now, you can import/export a configuration (including all your filters and other settings, or just filters), but with the web console there's not really a way to set a 'default' without logging in as that user and setting it up.
