Thanks for no replies, eventually worked it out for myself and smacked the burke who restarted the old server without checking why it was switched off. Alerts were comming from the old server and database!!

Anyone???

Ciscoworks Internetwork Performance Monitor can do this as well. If you are looking to just assess latency here and there? You could always just ping from the device, out the interface, to the other devices interface. -Brian

To be clear, you want to log in, submit a search, and then get the results back?

I am running my database for 9.5 on another 2003 server running 2008 SQL. Works just fine but of course that's not what you are asking. I tried to move my database from Solarwinds 7.8 to the new server doing the ole backup database / restore database, but just couldn't make it happen. I'm adding the nodes through their…

Are you using "Scan for New Nodes" to find them? It sounds like it found something, and you added the connectors, or configured them manually, but it's still not finding them? Here's the thing about the auto-scan: it wants at least 100 lines in the log file before it'll consider it enough hits to match a connector. The big…

We'll consider that for a future release.

Would I be correct in assuming that the "application monitoring pack (V7)" that we originally purchased with V7 does not work with V8?

What I'm hear are two levels of service monitoring. One is a basic port monitor. Open port X and tell me how quickly that happened, or that it failed. The other is much more sophisticated, where we would check for valid, protocol-specific responses. Would the first, simpler be useful as a v1, if we could deliver it sooner?…

if you have the syslog send the information then you could include the message in the alert you send out by email.

I'm not sure what was going on here, but I ran the NCM configuration wizard a couple more times and the issue went away. One additional thing that I have been trying to get working is using a domain based service account to run scheduled reports/actions. I kept running into an error saying that I needed to check my…

We monitor each physical interface as well as the Port-channel

Although this type of monitoring was discussed as a possible 8.0 feature, it did not make the final cut. We do not yet have a specific release identified, but we do plan to make this functionality available at some point in the future. I would be interested in hearing more about the specific problems you are trying to…

Another thing that would really be nice to have would be a switch port mapper integrated into Orion. Any plans for something like that? George

I'm glad to hear about the better F5 support. Particularly helpful would be the ability for NCM to login to the LTM, save the config to a .ucs file and then back up the .ucs file. Since the .ucs file has all the elements required for a successful restore, that would be nice.

I guess I was over-complicating it a bit. Thanks for the reply.

I havent seen any updates for ages. I guess Solarwinds just bought Ipmonitor to promote Orion. "Ah you want do this or that ... you will need Orion, Ipmonitor is not intended to do that". We will defnitly not renew our subsrciption anymore - why shall we pay for an old product which does not get updated anymore. Btw. there…

This is a separate product . Depending the version you have you may be able to use events in the server to build actions based on events. That may or may not work based on what you are looking for. Otherwise you can use scheduling utilities outside of the server product , but on that server ( depending on OS scheduled…

yes, they are case insensitive. There is no setting at present to change that.

Hi Anybody gotten any ideas ? looking at maybe finding the Key that was used to encrypt the xml attribute so i can encrypt \ decrypt the password using that key on the box, SteveC

I just looked again at Nodes with High Memory Utilization, and it has a filter field.

In case you're interested, the next version of Network Traffic Analyzer will show the ToS bit, which would allow you to do just what you're looking for (I think). That version - 2.2 - will ship in the next few weeks.
-
you can do a mass add of all the nodes and then add the two interfaces on each individually. which is better than adding all then trying to dump all the extra.

Just found a server with a hung service "stopping" APM shows it as pending stopping and it is not up.

This is a good article... Add and assign certificate for web console - SolarWinds Worldwide, LLC. Help and Support

Bryan, It is most definitely on the list. It won't be in the upcoming release, but I it's a high-priority item. Denny

Thanks Danielle! I learned something. An easier way of finding those templates. Some of these I found the hard way but this page turned me on to some additional templates I hadn't located. I am new to Thwack so I'll probably be stumbling around in the dark for a bit... pls forgive...
