I used report writer selecting description as one of the fields. I have SonicWalls so I filtered on Machine Type equal to SonicWall, Inc.

If you have VoIP and Network Quality Manager you can create an alert that will email or text someone when a device becomes unregistered. You can filter it by name or MAC for only the devices you want to monitor.

i have one instance of this also. trick is that the hyper-v guest is not even named the same as the one it is linking too

One thing to note with "Domain Users" and whatever users have set as their "Primary Group" is that those groups aren't updated like normal groups and LEM can't "see" their members with the LDAP connection we use. It's some kind of non-standard Microsoftness that isn't picked up with standard methods. That said, you…

Hi Mr.Thangaraj I'm having the same issue at creating tickets, could you please tell me how did you solve this problem? I have asigned 8gb to the Maximum_Memory as mentioned above and I'm using the postgres DB in the same server. I really appreciate any help. thanks! Marvin Jimenez

We control who can manage nodes via a custom property. eg a property called permit_exc_admins, specify a Y on the exchange servers for that property, then tie the exchange admins down to just that property. we then allow them to manage nodes. this works brilliantly for the actual node, but it doesnt apply to APM. I would…

Con la Mib y un poco de codigo se pueden hacer cosas interesantes para la monitorización. Includas las relaciones de Snapmirror. With Mib code and some interesting things can be done for monitoring. Including those concerning SnapMirror relationships.…

so i will take the lack of response here as no one at solarwinds knows what to do here. Same as the guy i spent 6 hours in email tag last night that had me reload the program 4 times to get right back to where i started at before he said we need more time to think about this.

The version of snort on the appliance is relatively out of date, so it's possible it's not properly detecting what you'd expect. You can either tune the rule to exclude that system, or disable the rule. You should probably be able to follow a process similar to this one to get the rules and tweak them - SolarWinds…

ESXi does not support SNMP. VMware is expecting you to buy Virtual Center. Without it, ESXi is fairly unmanageable.

1. We also user Lansweeper 2. I chose & tested it, but did not purchase or implement it... 3. Yes, for us the WIM tool is extremely broken, nothing but jibberish, duplicates, missing assets, you name it. I was and still am very disappointed in it. And in support/dev basically telling me that it's my fault. Lansweeper has…

Ok. We'll look into that.

Thanks all for the information. I didn't know that I would lose access to the Assets section.

It's in the Admin Guide here: www.solarwinds.net/.../wwhelp.htm

So, the big reason we don't do this today is that those exported reports tend to be so ginormous that it wouldn't really make sense to send them in email. This is a common request, though, so I think two things are happening: 1) people are refining their reports so that they ARE small enough, and 2) disk space is becoming…

The node name for non-agent devices (i.e. syslog, SNMP, remote devices) is displayed as it is received in the syslog (or SNMP, etc) data. That is, if your syslog message looks like: May 11 2012 11:06:00 192.168.168.1 Something_Cool_Happened LEM will display "192.168.168.1" in the node list. If it looks like: May 11 2012…

It's not ideal, and we're going to fix it in a future release.

Hey Byron, The tripwire enterprise connector assumes that you're syslogging the results to a LEM appliance (or syslog server). I believe the way it works is that you set up your Tripwire alerts to fire to syslog as they trigger. I have a pretty old reference doc (from TW Enterprise v5.1) that says on the Tripwire side to…

We'll be coming out with a WMI poller in early 2008.

I think he's asking which version was the first to support v3, and that's Orion 8.0.
-
Fair enough. This is actually valuable feedback since we need to know which items are popular and which are not. Not making any promises though.
-
We just haven't told our users that our WHD server exists. So far no one has ever logged in accidentally or otherwise. There's also Setup>Users>Options> Uncheck "Client Login Enabled" which may work for you also.

Thanks, I ended up rolling the day back when I need the toolset. thanks for the reply.
-
Thanks for the quick turnaround. After I posted my message, I found another post that mentioned option 2. Sure enough, that worked.

This isn't possible at present, but it's something we'll capture as a feature request.

So I had the same problem and just found out that the CM set up in SolarWinds was looking for different file names. For some reason the cluster was sending the file names cdr_StandAloneCluster_xx_xxxxxxxxxxxx_xxxx and and SolarWinds was looking for cdr_ABCUS_xx_xxxxxxxxxxxx_xxxx. If you go into your CM and go to System ->…

Do you mean "Reports" as in the Report Writer? Or Reports as in a resource? If you're returning a string, you can show it as a table on your node details page. Have you checked out this video tutorial? www.solarwinds.com/.../index.html
-
Interesting. I'll open a bug in our system and see if we can reproduce and then fix.

Hi bgri, There is a feature request created exactly for this: https://thwack.solarwinds.com/ideas/2274. You might want to vote it up.
