We haven't seen this. Can you open a Support ticket and include diagnostics?

It's always hard to answer questions of the "Why don't you do X?" variety. The question seems to imply that we considered the issue--CIM in this case--and concluded that we shouldn't do it. In some cases, that's true: e.g., Q: why don't you build a ticketing system? A: We don't want to be in that business at this time. Q:…

Hey chandu_7, Check this thread: Need Help with SNMPV3.CONF for AIX 6.1 You might find it useful.

We are not even able to test the connectivity via our windows or individual credentials. What can be the reason?
-
This is a known shortcoming of the Advanced Alert Engine. It's something we will fix in a future release.

You'll first need to figure out where this data is in LEM - look for an example Event ID 646 either using nDepth, reports, or a filter. Take a look at where the data you're interested in is. Then, look at the email template (as evanr suggested) and see what you need to add, THEN go to the rule and make sure it's hooked up.…

Do you happen to have an example as to what you put in your snmp.xml file? I recently installed NPM 10 RC and everything works great, just want to enable snmp as well as the API queries.

the PVC's should show up as a interface on the device. I have seen a cisco router running ATM blades and it showed ATM interface and even had the AAL 5 separate. so depending on you equipment i would say yes you can.

We have been using the following WLC template by Jodros: <!-- edited with Notepad by Jodros--> <!--SolarWinds Network Management Tools--> <!--Copyright 2005 SolarWinds.Net All rights reserved--> <Configuration-Management Device="Cisco WLC" SystemOID=" 1.3.6.1.4.1.14179.1.1.4.3"> <Commands> <Command Name="DisablePaging"…

I ran into the same thing ... even opened a support case on it. I saw the scans running in the log with a message that the scan range was empty. Took me a minute to realize that a subnet was not a range of IP addresses. This is really not very intuitive. So I have to load up all my subnets, then go back and load up all my…

I have the same issue. Anyone ever come up with a solution?

Unfortunately, the only events I know of that Windows generates to the Event Log are AFTER expiration, not before expiration -- if someone fails to log on due to password expired, it's noted in the event. It would be pretty handy if Windows added to the Logon event some kind of expiration warning and we could pick it up.

That feature is definitely in there. However, we'll only show custom properties that are nodes. If you're having a problem please open a support ticket and send in diagnostics so we can invetigate further.
-
Craig, Could you provide more context? I'm not sure what it is you want to do.

Your filter will look for any username in any of those AD groups or the "Admin Accounts" user-defined group to appear as the Source or DestinationAccount of a UserLogonFailure event. It might not be pretty, but it should work. Logon failures are a tricky beast where you have to have agent/log capture presence on the…

We do have an agent that will work for Windows XP, but you'd have to get it installed and that sounds somewhat unlikely
-
There's nothing built in for this. A script is the best solution.

Hi ">latkinson, To start, log into Ignite and navigate to the options button in the top right corner. Click on the Administration Tab -> Advanced Options. At the top left, there is a box that says Support Options, go ahead and check that. Now scroll down until you find CUSTOM_TIME_MAX_RANGE_IN_HOURS, you can edit this…

The Job Engine that ships with 9.5 is an improvement of the one that shipped with 9.1. Problems with the JobEngine.sdf file have mostly disappeared with this release. However, in some cases, we've seen problems where the Microsoft SQL CE install has been modified. Usually doing a repair of via add/remove programs has been…

I was hoping there might be an answer to this one. I'm looking to do a group availability report which shows group uptime/downtime and then lists the downtime events.

Here is what we cam up with for the same scenario: We have two broadband DMVPN Tunnels at each site and we don't care if one of the tunnels goes down. We DO care if both Tunnels (Tu1 and Tu2) go down and want to alert our 24 hour Operations folks. Using BGP and EIGRP routing neighbors information we used this custom query:…

Looks like the services.exe memory problem was related to the Event Log. It also seems *I hope* that reinstalling 2003 SP1 and then reinstalling Orion fixed the syslogserver.exe memory problem.
-
If you are running Orion NPM on a Microsoft 2K3 server there is a known issue with communication between ESXi 5.5 and Windows 2003 due to ESXi 5.5 using 2048 bit security certs which Windows 2003 doesn't support. Microsoft has a KB which addresses this functionality: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/948963 I was getting…

There should be an "uninstaller" that was installed inside the agent's install directory that you can run to perform an uninstall. Or, to manually remove, you can stop the agent, remove the agent's install directory, and remove the related startup script if installed - everything is pretty well self contained.
-
Here is a screenshot of my lastest syslogservice.exe memory leak. Seems that services.exe is also crazy out-of-control.
-
Thanks. I'll keep you informed as well.

To my knowledge, we have not seen this issue before. We will try to replicate your problem and figure out what's going on. Denny LeCompte Sr. Product Manager, Orion SolarWinds

From speaking with VMware engineers, statistics gathering can only achieve by using VMware’s application programming interface (API). That's not quite accurate. We do gather statistics via SNMP. What is also true is that there are statistics that are only available via Virtual Center using VMware's proprietary APIs. We…

Yes. The SyslogService.exe continues to eat memory until it finally dies. I am running on a Windows 2003 server with 2GB memory. The last time I killed it and restarted the service was using 169MB of memory and was still climbing. The file version is 8.1.2531.22999 Thanks, Jeremy

Orion comprises a number of different services. Could you give us more detail on what problems you are experiencing? Your title says "Syslog"...is it that service you're seeing problems with? What problems are you seeing? Denny LeCompte Sr. Product Manager, Orion SolarWinds
