We've considered it. One issue that has to be resolved is the redistribution of a Windows OS license, which is something MSFT itself doesn't worry about.

Can you be more specific about what you want to see? Denny LeCompte Sr. Product Manager, Orion SolarWinds

Hey Roman, It's useful to know that the default SSH port is 32022 (not the standard 22). Additionally, the credentials for logging in are different than the LEM Console UI, the username's "cmc" and the password either was set during your activation process or can be set from the virtual appliance console (under "Advanced…

There's a big fat asterisk on it on our website as far as Postgres database auditing goes. We do have some connectors that access postgres data (because that's how they log), but we haven't found a reliable method of database auditing like there is for Oracle (or the demand to build our own, as we did for MSSQL).

Hi Martin, I think that the CBQOS resource is indeed tied to the Interface component. So, yes ideally it would be placed as a resource in the Interfaces detail page tied to that interface. However, a summary of CBQOS issues (Discards/Drops) would be a very useful view at the Node Details level as well. As you say a top 10…

Brandon, Although your product managers might have requested that any NTA resource can be placed on any page, unfortunately, that is not at all how it was executed. You cannot use any CBQOS resources on any other pages still and of all the aspects of this product that would be the most useful and seemless, that would be…

I am pleased about this but am nogt too pleased that i have not had my APM pollers more than 6 months, and i have bought 4. I am hoping that Solarwinds are going to come back to me with some sort of refund as i would have got 12 months support with that initial purchase... i would settle for a Kiwi syslog license or 2...…

Not sure if your clients your the client interface or email them in. We use email and have seen sometimes where it doesn't recognize the client as existing and creates multiple clients with the same address. When we delete all instances of the client, their emails come through as they should. Also, verify that the domain…

I wouldn't do this with network atlas. This sounds more like something you would automate with a trigger action when an alert is triggered based upon performance of the connection it would automatically run a powershell script and flip over the connection. Hope that helps a bit.

I also find major deficiencies with Solarwinds wireless\ AP monitoring and alerting. Here are my wish list items that I know at least one competitor can do. 1. Client association by name. (Show the user name of the wireless client) 2. Client association history. (Answer these two questions: 1. What access points did a…

This Custom SQL Report will show the nodes that are down, and when they last showed as up, you can then delete the nodes via the Web Console 1. Start > Programs > Solarwinds Orion > Alerting Reporting and Mapping > Report Writer 2. File > New > Advanced SQL 3. Name the Report 4. In the SQL tab enter: SELECT Caption,…

Another solution--a variation of the VM soultion--would be to move the Orion server to a spare 32-bit box (if you have one) temporarily. You can migrate to a different box simply by calling Support and asking them to move your license. When 8.1 ships, move back. Denny LeCompte Sr. Product Manager, Orion SolarWinds

We expect to have a 64-bit compatible version available this Spring. Until then, we have a suggestion: 1. Leave your database on the 64-bit OS since there's no compatibility problem there. 2. Download free, 64-bit compatible versions of either VMware or MS Virtual Server. 3. Set up a 32-bit version of Windows on the…

Right. It kind of worked on 7.8.5, even without official support. Since we weren't testing against that OS, we didn't know it broke. We hope to ship a minor release that deliver support for 64-bit Windows this spring. Denny LeCompte Sr. Product Manager, Orion SolarWinds

What model are you trying configure flow on? On the 4200 it's SFlow set protocols sflow collector x.x.x.x set protocols sflow collector udp-port 5600 set protocols sflow interfaces ge-0/0/0.0 set protocols sflow polling-interval 20 set protocols sflow sample-rate 1000

I've had no luck getting the real-time Netflow app to work at all. I get that error when I enter the IP address of a device. If I can enter in an IP address that it likes, then I get a "Netflow is not detected on the selected interface". I'm using a Cisco router that is reporting to Scrutinizer just fine. I added my…

We realize that x64 has been out a while, and we are going to support it as soon as possible. Unfortunately, Orion is a lot older than x64 and some of its code presents challenges that will require non-trivial amount of re-write to fix. We have this work scheduled for 2007, and as of that release, we will support x64.…

Welcome to the fold, sumfknguy! Orion can be intimiadting but once you get an idea of what it can do and what you need to accomplish it is pretty cool. As mentioned you need to collect some basic information, turn on SNMP and then start playing. Throw out questions as you go, no matter how simple and someone will respond -…

Finding the same issue. My server has Internet access, but I'm getting the same error whether I use the online (88MB) or offline (3.9GB) installer. I have opened a ticket with technical support, but lately they are very slow to respond with long queues. Found this post while waiting. So I tried the /notests switch as part…

F5 and Citrix are pretty much the defacto leaders in the load-balancing market. The F5 MIBs provide a TON of information, and I agree- I would love to see this built-in to the product. SolarWinds- If you need a guinea pig, I volunteer.
-
Sorry, that's not currently in the works. We are, however, planning to integrate more closely with AD, which may get you where you need to be.
-
Great suggestion. It's something we're defintely planning that will eventually include APM and NPM.

this might be too fast for the interface to report back all the statistics you are trying to gather. polling up/down status is faily fast with just a ping but you seem to be wanting it to do the full statistics polling each minute and unless you have a small number of nodes/interfaces then it could be that the polling is…

Is that a multi-CPU device? 10.2 now supports polling data for multiple CPU's, so what I think you're seeing is the min and max across the CPU's.

Is there a way to put a node in and only graph it. I don't want to know if any of its ports go up or down I just want traffic graphs on it. Is there anyway to do this? this is confusing because you are saying you dont want to know anything on its ports but then you say you want traffic information. yes you can put in a…
