If i may add to this string.... I see a need for the synchronization process because I would lke to use the custom node names that I use in NPM to show next to the same node IP address in IPAM. Currently, i don't see that capability. Thx

The shortest polling frequency is 60 seconds. Many of the counters we're polling take a while to respond, so polling them them more often won't work well.

Fair enough, so I am monitoring 8539 icmp objects and 8539 snmp objects. Thanks for the assistance.

Yes this does help to interpret the data - except the data is essentially useless. I know - not Solarwinds fault - but what was/is Cisco thinking? "Let's implement a feature everyone has been asking for but do it in a way that makes the feature unusable. That will really make us a visionary!" Come on Cisco, please explain…

Brandon, Thanks. To be completely stupid, what is Profiler?? I originally bought Orion to replace HP's Openview, as a generic network engineer all I cared about was are my routers and switches up. Staffs shrink, responsibilty grows. Now I'm more and more responsible for the entire information fabric that runs our company.…

No worries. Our custom properties are sensitive, but quite forgiving.

The original error seemed to be (as noted by Jinesh below) that I had Active State 64 bit installed. Now I am getting another error regarding the use PAN::API; line when I import the module for communicating with the PAN UID agent. I have had a case open for several weeks with customer support but they have been awful…

I can assure you that it won't be a long wait.

any update on NPM 9.5? is there a release date on the horizon yet? It's coming soon, but we don't provide exact dates beforehand.

True but not as flexible nor as accommodating as editing the resource. For example, we have modified our 03-DownNodes.Resource to show by changing the underlying SQL in the resource. Status Device Last Change Duration Users Notes While I can do limited things using the SQL filter in the EOC resource it does not allow me…

I'm not sure where the body of my message went (I sent it via email), but I am looking into which fields we capture. That said, LEM won't accumulate bandwidth data in any of the reports, so we may have to address that issue separately.
-
bscherer, I just sent you another one.

Orion is using standard Windows APIs to make DNS requests. They cannot be turned off, but no one here in engineering can figure out why your security administrator would find this so disturbing. That said, they did suggest you take a look at this article to see if it might help.:…

rob.nebinger, I reimbursed your points.

this is brilliant... if i understand this right, you are doing somethign clever where you are updating the events table... with a little more complexity, do you think you would be able to update a custom property against a node, say "reason_for_reboot". you would then modify the standard reboot alert to include the reason…

Would you please be so kind as to tell me HOW to do this? I can get into the Database Manager, but I'm not entirely sure which query to run... I tried doing: INSERT INTO Websites (Type, IPAddress, Port, SSLEnabled, ServerName) VALUES ('primary', '(All Unassigned)', '443', '1', 'sitename.foo.bar.com'), but all I got was a…

Yeah, you could do that as a backup. What you can do is enable the original/raw message storage on the appliance, then configure a connector (one that generally won't match, but it doesn't matter), and you can search the original/raw message store (from explore>nDepth). We just need to match the connector based on the type…

I have tested the Desktop Notification Tool and was not impressed. I found there is a delay and inconsistent behavior when a device goes down as to whether or not it pops up and sounds. In addition, it appears to be limited with the sounds it plays, based on condition. I am trying to send specific sounds or recordings on…

I've made sure the bug is logged in our internal tracking system.

Seems like it was just a troll.
-
Maybe if you would indicate what you're trying to do. Your posts are simply rants and oddly worded plugs for a different product. I suggest you provide details so that one of the myriad of solarwinds experts that read this forum can help you. I'm really surprised you can't figure it out...

Vic, We're looking at this. Can't give you a timetable.

Hi Sasi, I've checked the walks and suddenly no one is complete. The tool linked above is also present in Orion installation folder in version which has SNMP timeout setting visible. Please try to increase the timeout and get the walks again. Walks from this kind of devices should have few megabytes. Thanks for your…

Let me know if this idea/workaround might work for you: Create a ticket custom field called, "Have you attached a file to this request?" and give it two options: Yes, no Attach the custom field to the request type and make it required. This would prevent users from inadvertently submitting a request without an attached…
-
Agreed. That feature is on our roadmap.
-
Unfortunately, only the remote installer has that option. I checked the silent install properties as well and it's hidden from everywhere in the local install. You might want to submit this one as a feature request and we'll see what we can do.
-
Ah. One thing you might show them is the Release Notes. It shows how often we've released in the past year and just how much we put in each release. We release two or three times a year, and we deliver multiple service packs in between releases. Without maintenance, you won't have access to that value.
-
Instead of a "detach resource" button, you can now just click the name of the resource, and it detaches. To create a multi-interface view, you can use the Custom HTML resource and host the interface views from multiple interfaces on a single page.
-
I'll add a SQL Table Change Monitor to the feature request list. So would you be able to describe more about the business problem? Are you or a SQL DBA using APM? It's not a frequent request, so more detail will help us understand the problem space better.

The question was asked in Ticket # 283533 and answer finalised in ticket # 283853
