You are correct, but as a potential workaround the FTP listener on the same IP may be used in another domain that has 'require secure connection' disabled. It is not the best way to handle it, but it works well in our current configuration. Wanted to add: in a normal configuration noone would want to encrypt the one…

I'm in the same situation. Our LEM brings in about 5-7 million logs per day. We are running the virtual appliance and have doubled the recommended specs (4 CPU's and 16GB RAM), and it STILL takes about 30 min to lookup a small login report from about a week back!!! Other SIEMs can do this within seconds. I'm not sure where…

Fundamentally, I agree - the data is there, and you should be able to reach it. The reality is with search that the more complex your search, the larger the results, and the farther back you want to go, it is going to take longer. :/ Theoretically, searching anything you see in the refine fields should be fast to pull back…

I agree.... this is a feature we use in Whats Up Gold. We use it to monitor things such as down services on servers as well as over temps in our server rooms. If a service is down or temp is high it shows up as a purple color and sends out an alert.

thanks everyone for your help. Once I deleted the reg key, I just needed Solarwinds support to reset the license and then I was all set. Thanks again.

You can make that change in the SCOM portion using the SCOM UI. It's not an Orion change. The options are kind of limited becasue it is a sealed management pack. In the SCOM Operations Console>Authoring>Rules, I open Creat Utilization Alert to edit the threshold but I'm not able to because it is sealed and the overid…

Folks, I've had several people contact via private message, and we're set up to talk. So please keep coming. We're very interested in hearing what you have to say.

Cyberark is being implemented at our company also. Only time will tell as far as what it does or doesn't cause. I think the Cyberark admins will get sick of approving requests all day long, being awoken all night, etc.. What I see happening, and I have heard with my own ears in a meeting, is that there will be a process…

Compared to EventSentry, how is your product different? We get email alerts when such and such occurs that meets the criteria.

The online admin guide is for APM 2.5.

Orion actually installs SQL Server Express for data storage. It has a copy of SQL Server Compact Edition as well, but that's more for internal temporary storage of settings, not something end users can interpret. Are you trying to get at your data? What's the problem you're trying to solve?

thank you aLTeReGo

Right, I get that. The problem is that the name of the alert definition is useless. We need to be able to get the info that apparently shows up in the Events table, into the actual alert(s). What I don't get is why the alert doesn't contain the info but the event does, yet AlertStatus is the table we were told to use when…

bleearg13 Thanks for the suggestion, your solution looks like the best option for what I am trying to do. Its going to be a little clunky for my admins, but I guess its better than trying to put together another solution other than Orion.

IN APM 2.5, we ship a template out of the box that will test that LDAP is up and responding. This version doesn't test a particular user, but it is script-based, so its a start on exactly what you're looking for.

Next release. I don't have dates yet. My intense allergy to providing dates seems to be acting up.

The first agent that connects to the LEM appliance that is running LEM version 4.6 or later. The current version is 5.4, current agent version is 5.3.1 - so if you just installed, that'd be the first agent that connected to your LEM appliance. You can choose another agent if you'd rather proxy those requests to another…

funny, i asked for an email parser as part of the solarwinds suite a few years ago, it would be immensely useful... picture having SQL server, oracle and lord knows what else sensing nonsensical emails to the service desk, that you have to document and teach the guys how to use. if solarwinds added a parser, just like the…

haha thats fantastic! That will definitely be something to look forward to!

Hi Oiram, Thanks for that. I won't post my 5412 info then. Regards Andy.

You said you were directing flows from your WAN interface. Can you get sflow from your LAN interface? This is how I have it setup on a couple of fortinets with no issues.

Every time I see this thread I wonder why they don't just set up a form of some kind that we can go in and submit entries. Unless they seriously verifying all 900 responses, this is a poor medium.

Checked again this morning. Viewing the session trace, it appears that one device hangs at the prompt detection. The same message copied above appears continuously and was still running this morning from a job that started on Friday. Verifying against another device of the same type, this device used "Device Command…

Hi, We have the same issue. After looking at the MS article and discussing the pro's and con's with our server teams we are worried that restricting the ports will impact on other services in our estates. We would be happy with a solarwinds agent that could be deployed to these remote servers and poll WMI directly then…
