There are a bunch of resources you can add to views in NPM. Some per node some in general. There is also an advanced syslog parser resource you can play with. You could also add rules to the syslog viewer to end you emails/pages, etc. I bet if you downloaded the free version of splunk and forwarded syslog to it from Orion,…

Unfortunately, I don't think it will be done in time for SP1. I also don't have a specific timeframe for the next SP. We are actively working on it though.

Denny, I just wanted to verity that the Hot Standby still does not back up the SNMP Trap and Syslog Listener services, is that correct? Correct.

Thanks bshopp :)

We do have an additional DHCP connector that reads the DHCP events from the System event log - that does cover some additional info to what's in the actual DHCP log. The %windir%\system32\dhcp logs are what we read from the other DHCP connector.

The Wireless Network Monitor is separate from v9. As for plans for Aruba, we're considering what to do. Specifically, our newest product manager, Andy McBride, is considering what to do, so I'll let him respond.

To add a little bit more, I don't see why duplicating a package and approving that one would suggest an incomplete uninstallation. The rules are identical from the old package to the duplicated one, and the cruft . The only thing that should change is the package ID, right? And Windows Update shouldn't care what the…

No. Not in 9.1. It's on the list. We'll get there.

the widget contains five trends so it doesn't have a single query. Below is the scope, criteria and segmentation information for one of the trends. scope: * NOT datastore.local:true criteria: /datastore/vmUsedSpace segmentation: /datastore/label[name='Customer']/value

Hi, So the problem was solved ? . Look, im trying to do the exactly same thing but Orion doesnt recognize my device yet. How long did it take before the solution?

Any idea when and if this is going to be available, with our iptables firewalls we would like to have that ability. Also, does anyone have a good Linux/iptables command template that they can share?? Thanks, Paul V.

It blows my mind how such a robust application with all that rich and detailed database information doesn't provide a sufficient reporting system. While you could stand in amazement that we haven't gotten around to upgrading our reports, you might also stand in amazement at how many things we have been able to upgrade over…

Basic alerts are, well, basic, so they can't do that. And long-term, basic alerts are going to be retired in favor of advanced alerts. So that's the bad news. The good news is that we're working on adding dependencies into Orion that will let you do exactly what you want (and more) in advanced alerts.
-
Do you have APM? We have an Application Monitor Template for alerting on Windows Event Logs.
-
We didn't change this functionality at all between 7.x and 8.0. Are you stopping the polling engine when you make the change and do the import?
-
I'm currently running our NPM install in a 2008 Hyper-V VM with no issues. The database is also on the same VM (SQL 2008 Standard).

What vendor are the stacks made by? And what is the OID to get to that table? Sounds like it may be one of those things where you have to pull in all the associated MIBs(Tables) and apply some more advanced logic to get what you want in which case I haven't found a way to make NPM do it. Looks like this may be the case.…

With Orion NPM 9.0, you can use the Universal Device Poller to get quite a lot of information about the ESX host. You can find the OIDs for ESX here.

Star Trek Armada was pretty good I loved sending Borg Balls all over the place...

Thanks, I will take a look at this, but it is not UAC, I forgot to mention that has already been disabled. Thanks, -Landon

That sounds like perhaps a bug. I'd suggest raising a ticket with Solar Winds. Good luck!
-
I see. Can the job scheduling be extended to the pollers (i.e. poller-bound)? That would at least spread out the load a little. Job scheduler can't be, but the job engine can by buying an APM extra poller. We're currently encountering the problems while attempting to monitor ~1250 servers. We're planning to expand…

It won't accept a JPEG.

This happens in a narrow set of cases. Unfortunately, you've hit it. It will be fixed in 9.5, which is due out very soon.
-
Hi Stansellc, Unfortunately, that did not solve the problem. All the reports I mentioned above, I still had saved. So I made the change, restarted IIS of course, and reports still failed. :/ I must say, I am very disappointed with SolarWinds.

That resource is "Edit Custom Node Property" It comes with the Update button, which cannot be hidden. To remove it, go to Admin > Manage Views. Choose the Node Details page. Edit. You'll see a list that includes the words "Edit Custom Node Property". Remove it. Save the page, and no one will see it.

We would love this as well.
-
I suggest a tool called "trust your kids". If you can't deploy that tool, try the open-source solution "don't give them iPhones".
-
yes. It's on the roadmap.
-
Well, that rules out the easy stuff Can you export the alert action and post the code here?
