Orion NPM can be configured to automatically discover new virtual machines added to any VMware ESX host server It's not a lot of a pollers. It's one or more, depending on the info you want. If you set up a single UnDP that lists the VMs on an ESX, then when a new VM is added to ESX, it'll show up on the table for the ESX…

Thanks Lukas, that does indeed work. I ended up using 64 bit Activeperl 5.14 in the end as the XML Parser was giving me problems with 5.16.

I am running code version: 4.0.179.11 Thanks

I'm running 10.2 so I guess I need to upgrade. I do not see a "Use HTTPS" checkbox like @Mike Driskell has from the screen capture above. I will confirm soon as I get a chance to upgrade NPM.

One of our Support Techs gave me this: Open Orion DB Mgr, Nodes Table, Set to read/Write UNMANAGE: Update Nodes SET UnmanageUntil = ‘9/4/2008 6:14:59 PM’, Unmanaged = 2 MANAGE: Update Nodes SET UnmanageUntil = ‘12:00:00 AM’, Unmanaged = 0

I use the Toolkit set a lot during my normal infrastructure work. I am a big fan of SolarWinds and the products I have used so far. Orion is fantastic and NCM really looks fantastic. It has only been within the last 2 weeks that we lost our Orion guy and my supervisor has asked me to take this over. I appreciate the advice…

Man you rock! Thanks Matt. You're genius. I can't believe I didn't see that when I was messing with the field formatting. All I need to do is change it to Numeric Data and then get rid of the "bps" unit to get rid of the notation! It looks to be working on .ORIONREPORT format too. SQL reports are not needed to be created…

Super thanks! Been a while since I had a change to do some more testing but i'll surely try this one out. thanks sasuke

Thanks, I guess I wasn't crazy afterall. I'll figure out some other way if the SDK can't get me there. Case closed.

Thank you. Is "Log Alert to the NetPerfMon Event Log" the same as writing the record to the events table? Your wording below almost makes it sound like two different things?

# Connect to SWIS $hostname = "localhost" $username = "IP-0A2B02DD\Administrator" $password = New-Object System.Security.SecureString $cred = New-Object -typename System.Management.Automation.PSCredential -argumentlist $username, $password $swis = Connect-Swis -host $hostname -cred $cred

That works! Thanks!

Cool, thanks! A related question -- is there a verb for Orion.APM.Application that I can invoke that will allow me to unmanage an application or a component?

Fodome, I tried the upgrade yesterday with the basic process of: * Take snapshot of VM for easy recovery * Stop services * Copy the ipMonitor folder for backup * Run 10.5 installer The installation went without errors, so I started testing. When I went to the URL to sign in I got an error because the port number had…

Fresh 2.0 install. Thanks for the computer inventory task suggestion. I will run that tonight and see if that resolves the issue.
-
+1 for this request. Is there a VBscript I can integrate into APM to accomplish this? I think the best solution would be for solarwinds to include this in the next release of APM No promises, but that's the plan.

It seems that Orion attempts to connect to the Thwack site prior to loading the home page. We changed this behavior in v9.1.
-
Just wanted to follow up, I did talk to support and they may also be following up with you directly.
-
We apologize for the Release Notes. That was clearly an error on our part.
-
I've talked to engineering, and there are no obvious reasons why you should see this. I'd suggest that you open a ticket and get diagnostics. We'll try to reproduce and figure it out.

Hi aLTeReGo- I am having problem with an INNER JOIN query using your suggestion. I want to harvest the Frequency and Timeout from the Key column in the APM_ApplicationTemplateSetting table and then match it to the APM applications in the APM_Application table. Can you or anyone help? The DB Manager doesn't like this query:…

If 8080 was soley Proxy it would. The proxy servers are all in an IP Address Group. So I have two rules: To Proxy : Any -> Internet Proxy Address Group:8080 From Proxy : Internet Proxy Address Group:8080 -> Any Looks like there is some "best match" rules to how traffic is counted. Alternate HTTP has fallen out of top 25…

So 2 years later, i am revisiting this. I have created a new inventory seraching for a file. My question is how do I report on this information? Thanks.
-
Vic, We plan to continue support for Hot Standby, and we also intend to expand its capabilties, although I have no firm timeline for the latter. I'll share your comments about the documentation with the rest of the team.
-
Thanks! What seemed to be the easiest thing to was to set all nodes to Production, and then find a way to pick out the few non-prod systems and change their enviroment to test or development,. I'm still figuring out how to do that. The team who managed the app before me only monitored production and it was a small subset…

I had 6 servers in this group and 2 of them were down... 33% down / 66% up. Simple.

If this is a separate web console server did you copy the reports from the server report writer is on, to the web console server?

Here is the html for the alerts. I meant to do a blog post with this info in it but never got chance. <html><head><style type="text/css"></style></head><body><table width="600" class='alert' style="border:3px solid #FF9999;border-collapse:collapse;font-family:Verdana;font-size:12pt;"><tr><th colspan="2"…
