I think the only thing I'd add is patching applications and servers. Some SQLi vulnerabilities lurk in your applications, frameworks, and underlying web services that can be fixed with patches. Now, THOSE vendors should ALSO be using better practices, but maybe we can reduce the funnel to a trickle (ideally not even that)…

Create an automated self-service catalog for other silos! There's no reason the help desk should have to ask the network team to change the vlan on a switchport. Just make sure there's an audit trail.

I've been told by support that installing net-snmp is OK and they can supply instructions. However it would be great if this was bundled into the appliance by default and setup via the web interface.
