I've just applied 10.1.1 which has seemed to resolve the huge polling delays we were seeing. I can't say I've had any issues which would require Hotfix 1 but I've just noticed Hotfix 2. With having the polling delays problem is Hotfix 2 a must install? Have people actually managed to install 10.1 without getting any…

I installed the oracle client from my custome rportal page on solarwinds. I ran the executable and verified the files were installed in C:\Program Files\Solarwinds\Orion\APM\OracleClient. When I try to assign the Oracle monitor to a server I keep getting an error stating that I need to install the oracle client......

Hello, I would like to thank the SolarWinds team for providing the Advanced Alerts Guide. This short reference has helped me alot in understanding how everything works. Would it be possible to include all of the Alert Variables, and if possible, a list and description of the Conditions? I find myself going back and forth…

ok that got me passed the error, though now I've run into another one: The Orion server cannot access the Orion NCM information service. The exact error was 'Invalid URI: The hostname could not be parsed.'

I'm sorry pozurita. I just got notified that you replied to my post. I like the new Thwack. Are you still having issues monitoring active calls? I can show you how I got it setup if you still need it.

Why type of integration are you doing with Service Now? We use the same application and have been looking to do this. At this time we are only sending alerts via email…

hmmm OK, next challenge.... how do we het the charge to show a "percentage" of the allocated bandwidth.... say AF1 is 2MB, i want to see a chart saying what percentage of that band is used so i can track if it is over subscribed... I guess once i have that i can correclate with the netflow reports to confirm what…

FYI. We have figured out Meena's issue. She had created a custom home page for her accounts back in Orion 7.8, and that view was set up as a NodeDetails view, even though there were no Node-specific resources on that view. When she upgraded to 8.5, her view broke because the Node Details view will immediately throw an…

9.1 has made my system unusable as it stops everynight until we reboot it in the morning. I see from the ticket that Support told that it was probably database maintenance, which is a good hypothesis. For users with lots of orphan devices in the database (from removing nodes or interfaces), the db cleanup is impacting…

LOL, i did nto realise i was on page 2...

Ok. But, I'm much disappointed. :| Looks like several more months of wait if you're just announcing what your working on for vNext.

The file count is working for folders with files in them but when i check the subfolder box it fails. The account i use has full admin rights so what should I check?

Any chance we can get a time frame for when a beta version could be tested? Thanks!

* You cannot run Orion on Windows Server 2008 yet. That's coming next year. * You absolutely CAN use SNMP to monitor Windows Server 2008 with Orion.

I reconciled the discrepancy. What I was responding to was the fact that The Adv Alert Engine doesn't have the message field for sending a Trap, but what the Support Tech was saying is that there is a manual workaround, which I didn't know about. That's why he's in Support and I'm in product management.

This bug will be fixed in SP5, which is currently in testing.

We've been considering the issue, and for APM 2.0, we expect to change the product so that an inability to get statistics through WMI will be classified as "unknown" rather than "down". In other words, Alterego, we have concluded that you are right, and we are wrong. Enjoy. :-)

OK Lawrence, But how can i assign agent to communicate with a specific automation server? Can you please give me more information on this process ? If i understand correctly, you mean that in any case we need to open the 4092 port between Agent and PAS. Or the alternative way (manual deploy certificate) will not need this…

Is this coming in 10.2? We really need this feature and have certain custom pollers for UPSs that we need to poll at lesser intervals than the statistics interval.

Hi glimbeek, I edited the post above yours to contain the fixed syntax, thanks! I've since then got SQL installed on my local instance and did a little more querying. Is this closer to what you were looking for? IF (SELECT COUNT(*) FROM SYS.OBJECTS WHERE NAME LIKE 'TopSQLforMSSQLMachine') = 1 DROP PROC…

dhardy, If you contact Sales, a Sales Engineer will help you through the whole process. But if you send me a private message with your name and SWID, I can generate an extension for you.

Perfect! As long as the "current" file continues with the same name, the connector will reopen it or rewind back to the beginning when it detects it's cleared.

thx denny.

Whether it's integration or monitoring, it would be nice when you add a server that it works out if it's a Dell or an HP and then starts collecting the information automatically. Then on the server details page it could show various collected information which we could alert on. For example i'm being asked to setup alerts…

/sigh. I'm not sure we're talking about apples to apples, skierjmh. The Support Tech and I may have interpreted the question differently, and I wouldn't assume that I'm right and Support is wrong. I may have taken the wrong slant on the question. I'll talk to Support and try to figure out what's up.

It looks like it worked but I won't know for sure until the end of the month when I run the full report. Thank You again for all your help.

Did you change config file as was mentioned in post above?
-
I woudl love to see this.... it the surpression tab worked as expected in the alert configuration then you could almost do this now, just have a custom property for "parent_node_id" and fill it out with the parent of that node in logical network terms... surpress when parent_node_id is DOWN etc... not even that bothered by…

So If I have 1 of the scripts, M-Sat running a downtime of 15 hours and a Sat-Sun script running a 24 hour downtime, roughly how long should I delay it? I assume your talking about the Delay Task option:
