I thought about it a lot but it basically just costs way to much in my opinion . And you have to be careful with SSDs while they are faster in most cases there are some situations in which they have trouble. A busy DB with a lot of small reads and writes might be an issue. I went with RAID 10 on my new SQL box for…

We are a MPLS consumer. Our MPLS network stretches all over the globe. We typically never have any issue with the MPLS itself nor with the provider so far as QOS goes. In this MPLS the provider runs BGP that comes up to the CE router so we deal with it some. Something BGP specific would be nice. We currently do not have…

This is something a few of us have asked for but there is currently no alerting for netflow. I would think we will see it in future releases.
-
I too would like this answer, I am trying to move everything to 2008 and am just waiting for full support.

I am not sure there is anything you can do about the router. By the time the router sees the traffic the NAT'ing has been completed and their is no record of the NAT'ing except form the device doing the NAT'ing. You could however put the ASA on 8.2 or higher code and have the ASA send the flows and then you would be able…

That sounds like a rough one . I would do the support ticket deal in my opinion. When I get such an issue normally bouncing the alert engine fixes it for me but obviously you tried that.

Wow that's a tough one because you are fighting against routing. I am assuming SiteB has a site to Corp as well otherwise just a normal NPM node would work as it is ICMP. What if you put a loopback on SiteB and only advertise it or static it through SiteA to SiteB connection. Then when that connection drops loopback goes…

Just from a longtime user perspective it is very customizable. But it is done through layers. Everything is built off of views (every page) and all views have resources on them. The resources can be filtered in almost anyway. For example I made a view for my night operators that shows JUST my 5 largest sites. This was done…

I had a similiar issue. Well I should say have. I am actually in the process of putting it back on 2003. There is a known issue with 2008 and SolarWinds where SNMP packets will get dropped under certain conditions, IE polling just stops working. Might be your issue might not be but I am back on 2003 at this time for…

I monitor close to 300 devices and my NCM DB is close to 2gb. Netflow for 30 devices assuming they are not superfast interfaces with a ton of traffic should be pretty small. That is a different DB however from NCM.
-
I get that from time to time. I usually just manually stop it and on the next run it is fine. Sometimes I just reboot the server. If you get it consitently probably should open a ticket so support can gert in there and look around.

The 7600 is not your typical router. It's more closely related to a 6500 than a router. They actually even share some blades. I think like a 6500 it has a RP and an SP and netflow working in hardware on different levels. Long story short look at the post for enabling it on a 6500 either here or cisco.…

We have something similar but we are seeing sub-par performance. We are adding about 500 more servers to NPM and probably APM. I was looking for ways to improve our performance since we will be rolling custom imterfaces our to business line application owners and all of IT (some 200 people). We have (all physical boxes or…

I agree this would be helpful, we depend on TACACs a good bit.

As far as I know this is not possible. In fact I actually posted it as a feature request. The only way around it to set the default to what you have the most of and manually edit the others. Either that or change the global one day, let it run then change it the next day to the other.
-
Maybe make a new view with top 10 lists of cpu , mem etc and then use filters to chop it down to only your ESX boxes by say name or vendor possibly.
-
I run NTA for 300 interfaces (some are gig and OC3), NCM for 1700 devices, APM for about 35 apps, and NPM with 17000 elements. My DB space used is about 100gb

I have not tried this myself but philisophically, should you expect to get layer 3 and 4 data from an L2 port? If you resolve this or find more info please post I would be interested.

I would like to know about this too I have 2 HTTP form login monitors and both show huge latencies. Not quite as big as yours. In reality we do not care about it so long as the login functions but I would love to know why so I could but some decent threhsholds in.

Never has for me. It's like I am the bee and its the window, but I keep trying...
-
Really you guys filed the bug eh? :) Do I have to post the email from Cisco!? :P I won't be greedy though we did work together on that I will take mutal credit at least... :O)

I have not done this yet but I plan on it. I had run the plans past support to be sure it was solid and they gave it a thumbs up. As far as I can tell load balancing is no problem with the website.

After going through some of the other areas in the web page I find the same thing to be true for several other pages. For instance under "Orion Settings" there is nothing but the settings, no banner top or bottom or any other way to navigate back to main or to go someplace else. Thank You

I agree with you and I think it is because you are seeing it cross the inside and the outside. Generally you only need netflow on your outermost interfaces. For example on all my routers its on for the WAN circuit but off for the ethernet ports.
-
From what I know and have seen I do not think that is possible.
-
I too had a flood of old alerts (months old) after the upgrade as if they were just stuck.
-
Not saying you are wrong but I have myself never seen that and I use all 3 major browsers. And I as well as many of my co-workers leave it up and running for 8-10 hours regularly. In fact we have a few places that use large screen TVs to display SolarWinds dashboards (I have 2 where I am) and they do not have that issue…
-
I do not know the answer to your question but I had to post about your title I about fell out of my chair laughing when I read it!
-
Anyone else looking for this? I cannot be the only one? it is the next logical step, basically predictive alerting.

From your config I think you are missing: mls netflow As well as possibly: ip flow ingresss layer-2switched vlan ip flow export layer2-switched vlan
