I would think you could just do that with the alert supression variables. But you would have to make a lot of alerts. Let them supress if the node above is also down. So for the alert for D Supress if node C is down Just a thought

OK so I got a new Eval key. Now the messages says on all pages the eval has x days to expire. Again this makes it look to everyone that the product is an eval.
-
We run a pretty big implementation of it and its ok for us. Only reason I mention this is maybe you need an additional poller or a dedicated web box or something of the sort. Just wanted to let you know there is hope.

We have created dashboards for each of our business lines that include the business line's sites, devices, applications and netflow. It does not look like exactly what you have there but I think it is close and we did it without any 3rd party programs it is 100% solarwinds. Guess my point is it can be done without too much…

Mine is about half that size and I have no performance issues at this time. I do not think the data just sitting there will cause any problems it will be when you go to access that data you may run into performance issues. But that load will be primarily on the drive I/O of your SQL box.

The answer to enabling something is no, it is just an SNMP query like anything else. One issue is that you need to monitor the interface the service policy is on. So another words if you have a subinterface , like what is common with frame and MPLS, you must monitor the physical interface where the service policy is…
-
I think reporting would be your best bet.
-
You should see a serial number in the "Physical Entities" report. There is a canned one in there you can modify to show just the info you want.
-
It is pretty simple really. There are 2 good reasons for it. The first is that the app for bigger installs can be be very IO itensive as far the DB server goes. Tons of tiny reads and writes. All in all it will thrash a SQL server pretty hard all by itself, so having it coexist with another app or other DBs means they all…

I would be interested in this too since I am red/green color blind as well.
-
Just an update. We got a SQL statement from support that shutoff the CBQOS reporting and that seems to have solved our issue. We will have to wait for some sort of fix to the use the QOS functionality.
-
It really boils down to where SQL is and how many elements you are going to monitor.
-
I do not think that is true, mins is 5mins.
-
Furthermore, if I try to import subnets from a spreadsheet I have to assign them to a parent subnet so the info not learned from the spreadsheet is put in IE subnet mask. That is not feasible when you have thousands of subnets.
-
You do not need the traps command unless you are actually going to send traps. If you are just trying to monitor/poll the PIX this is what you need. snmp-server host INSIDE x.x.x.x community "string"

If you find the ports it is using you can add it to netflow so it displays as "Internet Radio" and makes it easier all around to find and see your stats. The hitch will be where do you want to capture the netflow. From your 6509s? or from an edge router? It would be better to do it from the edge router in my opinion as a…

I have 4 5ks and have never seen this issue. I am not saying you do not have an issue, just letting you know it does not seem to be a universal problem.
-
Like most of SolarWind's products its takes a lot of massging and custimization. But once you got it where you want it , it's decently solid. The trick is just getting it where you want it.
-
Typically you use it on you WAN interfaces. I think putting it on a switch where you have bandwidth on tap does not buy anything unless you doing it for security. On top of that creating the amount of flows that can fly through a switch is very exspensive resource wise and can cause problems.

This is the second time I have seen this question and I while I do not know the answer for sure you would have to think that packets that are ONLY L2 switched that never cross a L3 interface would not have netflows built for it. But I am sick of wondering I will find out today for sure and post back today if no one else…
-
To confirm , the devices I get only L2 from have no associated router whereas those that do will have one or list themselves which is correct. In fact I have one that should list itself but it picked a router that serves only as a voice gateway and does not route.

You could make an alert that would kick off only when all of your website monitors were down (assuming they are seperate APM elements). It would not take a complex query and could be done easily. We have some similar alerting we use like that. It would all be done through the alerting interface.
-
I think it all rolls back to SQL so I would not think it would be an issue until your DB started to cough at a huge query but I do not see that ever happenning unless you DB box is oversubscribed. I have a similar alert for 1 set of apps and right now I think I have close to 10 listed.
-
Just my 2 cents but I would just put it on your wan interfaces.
-
Are you saying you are getting netflow from a 3560? I did not think that was possible, or are you collecting someplace else upstream?
-
Without knowing for certain you can probably do this with custom pollers. Which is fairly painful. But several of us have asked for CBQOS alerts out of NTA.
-
What are you trying to monitor specifcially? We usually monitor by the local inside address so when the tunnel goes down we get a node down alert and then we monitor the inside and outside interfaces for stats which can be different things depending on the model of ASA.
-
I guess you could install it on XP but then you have to ask yourself why.... NPM is a pretty heavy app, running it on a workstation even just as a test is not a good idea. If you are doing it as a test it is not a good test.
-
Looks like your DB is full and either is not allowed to grow or is on a drive out of space and cannot. I am no DBA but thats just what the error seems to point to.
-
So after hours of trial and error I was able to solve my issue on my own. And in the vein of not complaining without suggesting a resolution this is what I ended up doing. I started to think the error was non-specific BS and quit paying attention to where it was directing me. So I thought next what if this thing is…
