Thanks for you reply : it certainly makes sense to look a the broadcast address to see broadcast traffic ! :-) I'm looking to see how much broadcast traffic there is on the remote LAN. I don't think they'll be any broadcast traffic on the WAN link : each site is a seperate LAN with a c class subnet and I don't think the…

I do have Broadcom nics however I think the BASP Virtual Adapter only applies to Windows platforms. I'm playing with ESX :-( Looks like this is a feature request for the next version of NPM..

Joe, Thanks for the advice. I've just applied SP1 and it hasn't made any difference. I doubt its the device reporting incorrectly; as I mentioned in my original mail they were reporting correctly in v8.5.1 (though thinking about it there may have been a firmware update to the devices since I last looked at them). I'd…

For preference: yes it would be nice to have another state eg: 'Energy Saving Mode' perhaps or something along those lines. VMware do claim that monitoring consoles can hook in to there environment and so can be made aware of an ESX host being powered of for energy saving reasons. I think Solarwinds may be seeing more…

I suspected that was going to be the answer :-( Would you be able to hint as to when this feature might be appearing ...?

Cosmin, As it happens I'm now running Orion V9.1 SP1 (the latest version according to this : www.solarwinds.com/.../supported_products.aspx ) I must admit that I haven't been keeping an eye out for this problem since I upgraded to the current version. I can't remember see the issue 'for a while' so I think it might have…

I'm sure I could but i haven't got the time or the knowledge to know what's important hence my need for out of the box support.

Does this explain why Orion is showing my ESX hosts as 'net-snmp' ? And presumably I have to configure the proxy for the VMWARE snmp agent to fix that?
-
Chris, Thanks for the speedy reply. The node variable looks like what I want. I tried this: config vlan "Default_vlan" ip address ${AgentIP} 255.255.252.0 exit exit exit y ..and got a completed upload with the follownig result info: terminal width 0 terminal length 0 config terminal config vlan "Default_vlan" ip address…

Any suggestions? I tried to do a MIB walk on one of my HP5412zl switches but got lost in the shear number of OIDs... :-(

Yes! ( just discovered the issue and was looking here for a solution) Looked in the db tables: the association between the device type and view id looks ok but doesn't seem to have any effect. Have you logged a call with Solarwinds?

never used the feature

I'm (still) having the same problem using Juniper\Netscreen firewalls and Orion 9.0 (and earlier versions) and useing the same temorary unmanage\manage trick to work round the issue. The last time I looked in to this the suggestion was flaky snmp agents on the firewalls. If so then you could try upgradeing the PIX…

achun, Did you find a solution to this? I also would like to create a report with consistent units (eg kbps) on my report. Thanks Andrew

After discussing this with Juniper tech supoprt this doesn't look to be possible :( They don't offer this info via snmp I would need to somehow get hold of the ip routeing table to see which virtual interface is in use (ie: get route protocol ospf)

same problem as the OP. my only thought is to (somehow) remove the critical ports from UDT so my junior admin staff can't accidently disable them. Problem with that is you don't get the MAC address info etc on these critical ports that could be useful....
-
Umm : ok ignore the unknown status issue. They've all showing an 'up' status now. Just need to be patient...

Did you find a solution to this? I also have 100% of devices not inventoried despite the daily inventory task log reporting success\finished on most of my devices. (I'm running NCM 5.1.1 )

Any idea when 10.4 will be officially released? (I've got some new HP wifi units being installed that 10.4 supports our of he box :-) )
