Report - Percent utilization - Business Hours

Can anyone help me with writing a report for interface utilization during weekday business hours ?

  • gizzib,

I've got several reports that I only pull statistics for during business hours. I've never gotten very good at pasting screen shots into posts on Thwack, so the attached Word doc has a couple of screen shots from Report Writer that might help.  The key is in the Filter Results tab.  You'll filter your records based on Day of Week and/or Time of Day (24 hour format).  Set your business hours Time of Day to be greater or equal to your opening time and less than or equal to your closing time.  Let me know if the screen shots help or not.  If you have any questions, just let me know.

    Hope this helps!

  • kweise,

Thanks - I 'll give it a shot

  • I think I'm close. The one thing I notice is the percent utilization that its reporting is different than if I drill into the interface chart. Below is the screen shots of the report - Any thoughts ?

  • What time frame are you using for your report?  I don't think there is a way to make the graph display anything but a single day's worth of data for just business hours.  For example, I don't' think you could run a graph for the last seven days and return data just for your business hours.  With your report, if you set your time frame to the last seven days, it IS returning utilization data for just the business hours you defined in your filter so I wouldn't expect the graph data to match the report.  If you set your report to a time period of Yesterday, you could set a custom start and end time in an interface's bandwidth utilization graph and see if that better matches your report data.

  • I tried to set it just for yesterday , the stats still aren't matching. The report is much lower than what the custom chart shows.  It looks like the only difference from your example is I am using the Interface ID instead of type. But it's returning the correct interface so I don't think that's the issue. Any other ideas or should I opne a case ?
