Please See below from the Orion administrators Guide. There are also many posts on thwack on the same issue .I have listed a few below

    Configuring Audible Web Alerts

When browsing the Orion Web Console, audible alerts can be sounded whenever new alerts are generated. When enabled, you will receive an audible alert the first time, after login, that an alert is displayed on the page. This alert may come from either an alert resource or the Alerts view. You will not receive audible alerts if the Alerts view or the alert resource you are viewing is empty.

Following the initial alert sound, you will receive an audible alert every time an alert is encountered that was triggered later than the latest alert that has already been viewed. For example, a user logs in and sees a group of alerts with trigger times ranging from 9:01AM to 9:25AM, and the user receives an audible alert. If the user browses to a new page or allows the current page to auto-refresh, a new alert sounds if and only if an alert triggered later than 9:25AM is then displayed.

    To enable audible web alerts:

    1. Log in to the Orion Web Console as an administrator.

    2. Click Admin in the top menu bar, and click Account Manager from the left pane menu.

    3. Select the account that you want to configure, and then click Edit.

    4. Select the sound file you want to play when new alerts arrive from the Alert Sound list, and then Click Done.

  • hi

I noticed there are noly 3 audio files in web. and in Orion admin guide, "When browsing the Orion Web Console, audible alerts can be sounded whenever new alerts are generated. When enabled, you will receive an audible alert the first time, after login, that an alert is displayed on the page."  Do web audio alerts can come out when not log in?? I noticed web alerts depend on the Accounts (and only 3 audio files available).

could you tell me the details of the web alerts?

    thanks.

Audible web alerts are account specific, so one account can get them while the other one doesn't.  Consequently, you must be logged into the console.  The Orion Admin guide has more detail here

  •  you can added other sounds, look in the following folder

    c:\InetPub\SolarWinds\NetPerfMon\Sounds

i actually have a wav file that says "theres something wrong" because thats the only thing people paid attention too.

the admin guide will help too.

  • Hey thats a nice suggetion can you please share this "theres something wrong" sound file.

    I'm aware of this.

and I want to know if this audible web alerts need a sound card in the orion server??

because I did a test (orion server has no sound card and I log in with my notebook PC with a sound card), there was no alert in web.

  •  No the server does not need a audio card.

Did you have any alerts triggered when you logged in with the laptop?  Mine gets me everytime but I am watching over 120 servers, 50 routers, etc lol.  Once we renew our license info I'll be installing pollers for all the switches.
