DHCP Component - keep getting alerts, suppress alerts somehow?

    vpbcarder

      Hi folks,

We are monitoring DHCP scopes and on one of our DC's, it frequently crosses failure threshold. Is there a way to suppress the alert to only alert us every X hours? I'm finding it difficult since it alerts every time it goes into failure (which is about every 15 minutes).

Any idea how I can combat this without adjusting thresholds for this DC only?

What template, and which component within the template are you referring to? It sounds like you are either using the "DHCP User Experience Monitor" template, or the "Windows DHCP Server" template. We'll also need to know which component is causing the notifications and if they're hard failures (down), or if the thresholds that are being crossed (warning/critical) that's causing the alerts to trigger.

You can also change the default alerting threshold in Windows server (from 80%)

To do so follow these steps:

            Open Regedit.exe

            Navigate to this path

            HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Dhcpserver\Parameters\

Create a REG_DWORD (32 bit) value named DhcpAlertPercentage under Parameters

set it to 85 or 90 (decimal)

Lastly, restart the DHCP service for the change to become active.
