Migrated to a new SQL server. Stopping old stops NPM services

I had NPM web, services and DB installed on the same server. We moved the DB to a separate server and used the configuration tool to change the pointers to the new database. Each time I try to stop the SQL service, It stops a hand full of Solarwinds services as well. How can I stop/remove SQL Server from this machine without affecting Solarwinds services.

You may want to look at your services and check for any dependencies between any solarwinds services and SQL services. If there are none, i would run the configuration tool again and make sure you are pointing to the remote SQL server

Usually there are dependencies tied to the Information service, Job Engine, and Job Scheduler. You may have to uninstall and reinstall those components even after rerunning the configuration wizard to remove those dependencies.
