running DPA server on virtual machine

Hey guys- Just curious is anyone running DPA on a virtual machine? Our current instance monitors less than 20 nodes (mainly MSSQL) and we would like to move it to a virtual machine if possible. Thoughts?

Thanks

  • We're running on a VM with no trouble at all. We're only monitoring 7

instances, but there are over a dozen other apps that use the same SQL

Server VM for their data store.

  • VMs are absolutely supported. You'll want to review the system requirements and make sure the VM has plenty of horsepower just like you would a physical server.

In fact, I like VMs better as it provides built in fault tolerance...

  • VM is fine - we run DPA on VM's (one for the App, one for the DB repository) monitoring 13 servers or so at the moment (a mixture of DB2 and SQL Server).

No problems with it at all.
