Please take a look at this thread for more information about the SolarWinds Certified Professional program: Every SCP Question Ever
If I understand you correctly, the SCP certification is mainly targeted to IT network management professionals with experience and a general understanding, with an emphasis on our suite of network monitoring software. Some of the questions are on basic IT Networking information, and some are based on experience with the Network Performance Monitor software product. You can think of this certification similar to many other product suite certifications out there such as Microsoft’s MCITP, MCSE, MCT, or Cisco’s CCNA and CCNP, or VMware VCP for example. You have to have the foundational knowledge, as well as specific enough experience with the NPM platform to achieve the credential.
The SCP Prep site: http://www.solarwinds.com/certification/network_certification.aspx is intended to be a review using the videos, program summary, prep guide & other content a test taker will need to know prior to taking the exam.
You can attempt up to three times and can space that out over any course of time. So you can take as much time as you need to re-take the exam without repercussions. If you aren’t registered for thwack Community Forum, we highly recommend you sign up, regardless if you have our product: http://thwack.solarwinds.com/welcome.
